With the news that Amazon/Audible is now offering an ai narrator conversion beta for books in KDP Select...but that the resulting audiobooks will be offered in an all-you-can-eat Audible Plus subscription model, means that author royalties will likely take another dive (just like musicians have experienced with streaming on Spotify). This is a really exciting #FOSS prospective for #DigitalArtists and #Creatives. It seems the idea here is to fill some of the gaps in #FLOSS interoperability to be able to replace the #Adobe experience with #FreeSoftware. I think it would be outstanding to eventually see a cohesive workflow between say #Blender, #FreeMoCap, #Natron, #Ardour, and #Kdenlive, for example.
It seems like it's very early days for the project, but please check it out and, if you're into it, find out if there's anything you can do to support. 😄

I'm hoping that this week, the #SAGAFTRA #strike is resolved in favor of the #actors, like the #WGA strike.
The #studios and #streamers are in pain, not as much as the #creatives or the #film #crews, other support staff, and supporting businesses, but they're losing money and some may collapse if full production doesn't resume soon because the pipelines are dry.

How do you deal with people who constantly send “advice” about how you should write / create, how you should promote your work, what you should do to be a success BUT they are not in the business of writing / creating and they do not help you in any way? They don’t buy your work. They don’t tell others about your work.
Broadcast in 2001, the Star Trek Voyager episode “Author, Author” centers on a fight to establish authorship rights over a creative work made by a computer-generated being. Amazing prescience considering the recent ruling that works created by contemporary A.I. cannot be copyrighted — at least not by those whose contribution to the work was merely entering prompts.

The #puritans at #Fanhouse have decided to shutdown and move everyone over to #Passes, which bills itself as an "exclusive", "#brand friendly", #platform, meaning they're openly hostile to #SexWork and #SexWorkers.
I followed someone on Fanhouse when it was still a new alternative for #creatives as this person began their journey into #sex #work, and never liked the vibe.
Thankfully, the person I followed moved to #Fansly a few months later and seem to be doing well enough there.
#Kickstarter have unveiled a new #AI policy striving to create a framework and promote transparency in its usage. I hope other businesses follow suit!

I loved #SquidGame, season 1 so I have no interest in watching the planned season 2.
For me, the new season can't possibly compare to the first because a major factor that made the original excellent is that it was so original.

#Artists and #Creatives: I just painted a Red Cross on my new white first aid box. I used masking tape but it bled through. I tried to clean the edges as best I could but…it’s not perfect. When I look at it, I focus on the imperfections. Experience tells me if I keep going, I’ll overwork or ruin the piece.
How do you let go when you’re in a similar situation. How do you evaluate your work? Are you ever able to love it? Does it astound and confuse you when other non-creatives tell you how amazing it is, or do you just think they’re lying to you?
