Why do nerds always do this; overcomplicate everything?
Generating public/private key pairs isn't simple, but it's pretty common by now. I do it every time I set up #git on a new computer. I do it when I use #PGP. I do it when I #ssh
Nerds were like; "I know let's encode the private key in a series of words so people can memorize them" and now you've got two private keys!
#Bitcoin was already kinda complicated, and now #wallets are 100x more complicated!!!
After further research I've learned that #seedphrases contain some redundancy so that a user can get a few letters wrong and still use the phrase.
Also, a single #seedphrase can code for multiple private keys so you can have multiple addresses with one SP.
However, seedphrases generated by some wallets won't be compatible with other ones.
There's a standard called #BIP39 and some common word lists that wallets can adhere to for compatibility.
Okay, so I'm finally spooked enough to move my #bitcoin off #coinbase
I bought a metal plate, and stamps.
I want to create a #coldwallet on a burner computer, write down the seedphrase, move my #crypto to it, and then delete it.
All I need to do is decide which #wallet software to use.

We'll call it a "bank". I think it might work!
I block #crypto skeptics, not because they are critical of something I'm invested in, but because I look at the rest of their posts and they are so generally full of negativity and derision for all sorts of progress.
They frame their personalities by what they are *against* and I find that toxic.

So many projects claim to be decentralized but are maybe mostly in one AWS region like Ethereum staking nodes right now.
