🇬🇧 Is there a way to deactivate diagonal input in Crypt of the Necrodancer ? I always fail with my joystick if my gamepad is not exactly straight.

I've played so much #CryptOfTheNecroDancer that when I noticed a friend's Discord rich presence about the game my brain started subconsciously replaying the song of the level he was playing without me even noticing what track it was!

Comunque volevo approfittarne per segnalare che lo #SteamDeck ha una capienza di batteria notevole, e consumi limitati se non si fa roba grossa. Io ci gioco sostanzialmente solo a #CryptOfTheNecrodancer, e ieri mi sono potuto fare un'oretta di gioco senza grossi impatti sulla batteria. #Rhythm games are getting to my head like a parasite. I just stopped playing #CryptOfTheNecroDancer where you need to move while following the rhythm of the music playing, I opened up #Calckey on my phone (using #Kimis) and I found myself trying to scroll (even composing this post) in a rhythm 😭

My #SteamDeck is on the path to become a very expensive #CryptOfTheNecrodancer handheld player.

I've made the mistake of installing #CryptOfTheNecrodancer on my #SteamDeck, I think I can drop any pretense of actually ever using it for serious work.

I've held back on #MineTest so far, with the excuse that controller support isn't good enough yet, but the actual reason is to try and get enough hours of sleep at night instead of playing #NodeCore with @rubenwardy mapping. I don't know if I should hope official controller support never arrives or not.

Hey there! I'm doing my introduction again because I forgot hashtags ^^'

I'm Théotime, I'm a French computer science student from Auvergne.

I mostly play roguelikes, metroidvanias (Hollow Knight my beloved) and monster tamers (i.e. "Pokémon-likes", such as Nexomon, Coromon, Monster Sanctuary,...). These days, I play a lot of Breath of the Wild, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Dead Cells, and 30XX.

I watch pretty diverse series, my favourite shows at the moment are Doctor Who, The Owl House, Inside Job, The Good Place, Rick and Morty,... Feel free to recommend me shows, I don't really have anything to watch these days.

I think I want to try the Aria run on #CryptOfTheNecrodancer... Well, I have been attempting it.

Aria is a resurrected grandmother, so she has some restrictions

* You only have 1 HP (but you start with a potion that gives you an extra life bar, also of 1 HP).
* You cannot use any weapon other than the puny starting dagger (which Aria just ripped out of her own chest, yikes)
* Missing a beat also instantly kills you.
* Her entire soundtrack is metal covers of the CotND tunes.

Hm, the French translation of #CryptOfTheNecrodancer seems better than the Spanish one.

Example:

Original English: "They told me I was too young. They told me I needed more training. I told them to drop dead! [Cadence falls into the Crypt] How ironic..."

French: "Ils m'ont dit que j'étais trop jeune. Ils m'ont dit que je devais encore m'entrainer. Je leur ai dit de lasser tomber! [Cadence falls into the Crypt] Quelle ironie..."

I played a bit of #CryptOfTheNecrodancer in Spanish and they translated "drumstick" (y'know, a cooked chicken leg) as "baqueta", meaning, the thing you play a percussion instrument with.

I mean, yes, but also, no.

I was playing around with some #Linux 32-bit libraries and thinking I might have broken something I went to check on my copy of the #CryptOfTheNecrodancer and the cut scenes weren't playing anymore, and I thought I had broken my shiny toy and I was like :-(((((( and so I tried fiddling with libraries again to put it back the way it was, and I went online to check on forums and something said something about USB, later I unplugged my USB gamepad and the cut scenes were back and I was like :D

Discovering custom music for #CryptOfTheNecrodancer has really amplified my enjoyment of the game. And today two people requested two tunes to play in the game. They were pretty good tunes, and I enjoyed running them!

I'm thinking of implementing a chatbot command that could automatically download a song off youtube and add it to the pool of available music. Maybe even automatically add it to the game! The game's data formats are easy to figure out, so maybe I could make this work...

I've been poking around #CryptOfTheNecrodancer's files and looks like they use something called Essentia ( https://essentia.upf.edu/ ) in order to automatically extract beats from a music file.

Only problem is that the GNU/Linux binary they're shipping is compiled against the wrong libraries that don't match my system.

We can rebuild it. We have the technology...

I'll probably never play either of them, but I'm super excited about that #CryptOfTheNecrodancer spinoff with playable Zelda, #CadenceOfHyrule, and also, there's a new #Battletoads game announced for 2019.

I would totally watch a film adaptation of #CryptOfTheNecrodancer. A dance musical where our hero has to keep to the beat of her heartbeat as she claims her soul back from the minions of the Necrodancer... It's a good story!
