American breakdance drama film "Beat Street" is released.
It's one of the better movies about breakdancing, rap and hiphop that came out between 1983 and 1986 (e.g. Breakin', Wild Style, etc.).
It's a wonderful time-capsule of the Bronx, Queens, and greater NYC of the 1980s and the b-boy culture, dress, and dance moves.
Pretty sure this is what caused a lot of us white suburban kids to get a pair of parachute pants and a large piece of cardboard to practice our moves on. Soooooo glad there were no camera phones back then! 😳

I kinda like the idea of taking cuts from an anime opening and making an idol dance out of it.
It should have been obvious that kpop idols would like an anime about the seedy life of kpop idols, but I didn't think about it before.
I should go search now for inside takes. The Yuri on Ice fandom had so many good hot takes and references made by skaters who were fans of the skating anime. I want to watch the hot takes of Oshi no ko by idols.

We went to a great show in 2013 in The Hague, The Netherlands. Beautiful !
Only thing was, it is organized by a very large organization that promotes ideals not in accordance with the official in China.
They might be right, but paying $135 for tickets, you don't expect a speech after each performer.
But some good historic Kdramas do very well with showing traditional dances, always glad when they do that.

In June 2020, a clip of Anthony Mmesoma Madu dancing made the internet rounds. The video shows the young student gracefully performing on wet concrete, presumably demonstrating what he’s learned from Leap of Dance Academy. A new #documentary titled “Then Comes The Body" pulls back the curtains on the genesis of the academy. #dance
Yesterday I made a wee loop of some figures dancing by a river, & only realised after posting that I'd made a #RiverDance and should have, you know, done the *proper* dance.
So I decided to give it a go.
It did not go well, but it made me laugh so...
I watched a tutorial for this #dance.
What I like about it is the cool contained-ness and flow of the moves. They are not too hard individually, but remembering them in order, making the motions smooth and with emotion. The jumps! The lyricism.
This dance could be a meditation. Once learned, you could lose yourself in the flow of it all.
It loves the body.
If you are a non dancer, look at how many moves there are in such a short period of time. Amazing Choreography!
