After 3 years and the loss of 3 people, my cat is what finally broke me.
I've never been able to process the loss of someone. I don't move through it. I don't know that it would have helped me, but we aren't taught these things. One of the largest inevitable events of a life and we're grasping for anything. Directionless.
I live mostly in my bed (on normal days due to chronic illness) and now I am truly alone in this room.

A friend of mine’s mum died yesterday. He couldn’t be with her when she passed because they live in different countries, it was unexpected, and happened quickly. He is currently flying home to be with family but I felt bad that there was nothing I could for them before they left because it was all so quick.
You never know what the future is going to bring, so tell people that you care about them when you have the opportunity, whether it’s a friend, a partner, a child, a parent, or another relative.
Don’t hold on to it because one day it will be too late.

I was recently told by a volunteer at a local "natural" cemetery (bodies are buried with only biodegradable shrouds and/or all wood coffins) that 42-inches is the perfect depth for a grave. Deeper and decomposition is hindered. Shallower and leakage & critters become a problem. I'm not making this up!

The laws that dictate generational wealth are biased to the States. If you do not have a Life Will and zero heirs, State probate has title to all your stuff when you die. Even if you have heirs, State Probate can refuse to honor the heirs by holding the estate on a tax question for decades. They wait the heirs out, maybe they die. State gets all the estate. Generations of wealth transferred.

I've dealt with this firsthand, and gotta say that while I never expected such accounts to stay around 'forever' it does change things to consider they will likely disappear on a shorter cadence. Had a collegial conversation a few years ago about legacy accounts like POTUS as well, and I suspect this is the true target of this new effort, with regular folks as collateral damage in one way or another. #birdsite #death #infosec

20 years since my mum died of cancer.
I loved her to bits. An intense and argumentative woman of Irish stock, prone to religion and dark bed-bound depression, but also given an equally dark sense of humour that I will always treasure.
Sadly, she never accepted me transitioning, which I’ve had lot of therapy dealing with. The the gifts of ADHD and depression that she passed on to me were the icing on the cake.
