Ponieważ nie dysponuję popsutym zasilaczem Dell-a żeby wygrzebać tę linię danych, skłaniam się do przejścia na ładowanie z USB-C. Ale by było uniwersalnie, #DIY i bez kupowania "gotowych" zasilaczy za milion monet, znalazłem płytkę z przetwornicą i procesorem, która ma szansę dostarczyć te 60W w standardzie PD, gdy będzie zasilana z 24V (w moim przypadku dokupienie drugiego #akumulator-a żelowego, co i tak planowałem).

As has been told by others, without this adapter I.D. circuit, the two-wire adapter would power and run the laptop fine, but the error message indicated there was trouble with the adapter. After the I.D. circuit was added to the cable, the error message concerning the power adapter cleared and the battery charges."

Si tienen nostalgia por #WindowsXP, echen un ojito a la distribución #Q4OS, que aún da soporte a máquinas de 32 bits y jala fluidísimo, mi #Dell 640m tiene 1 GB de RAM y, hasta ahora, con SO actuales, no lograba hacerla operar igual de fluida que recién comprada, esta distro hizo la magia.
Aclarar que lo mío no fue nostalgia, en 20 años con #GNULinux me he alejado al máximo de los estilos de #Windows, pero reconozco que esa versión se hizo legendaria.

Na nieoryginalnym zasilaczu uniwersalnym (gniazdo zapalniczki) zwraca komunikat, że nie rozpoznaje i nie będzie ładował baterii. Działa na nim, jedynie nie ładuje.
Jakiś opornik między + i - czy inaczej? Wtyczka zwykła, bolec i tuleja.
Starszy ThinkPad łyka zasilacz jak młody pelikan ;)

Im Taskmanager: der USB-Stick liefert ein paar Sekunden lang Daten mit 300 MB/s und macht dann Pause. Die NVMe schreibt kurz Daten mit 300 MB/S, die Rate sinkt dann aber auf ~80 MB/s. Die NVMe ist damit für ~20 Sekunden zu 100% ausgelastet
Die #NVMe ist also langsamer als eine #Blechplatte!!!

really no one can match #Apple rn in terms of laptop hardware. the closest i wld consider is #Dell but they not only do not match in terms of performance but also in terms of price (Apple's WAY cheaper believe it or not).
but i hate having hardware that could brick at any moment without the possibility of replacing/upgrading the broken components (eg. memory, storage) without replacing the entire laptop. and i also hate #macOS to death, more than i hate #Windows which almost always makes me gag.

Maintenant, après l'affichage d'un gros logo DELL pendant POST, le PC reste figé. Si j'essaye de rentrer dans le BIOS, tout ou partie de l'écran devient noir, généralement avec une partie du "splash-screen" du POST toujours affiché.

Hello People. I have an old Dell Latitude E6320 who worked fine until late this morning. Now I see the logo Dell at POST like usual, but then the PC stay frozen there. And if I try to enter the BIOS (or UEFI, whatever) all or part of the screen become black, (the not black part still showing the DELL splash screen of POST).

That's especially irritating coz i'd explicitly chosen to buy the 9-cell 7800 mAh one, not the standard [like my dead one] 6-cell 5200 mAh one. Sigh. Ofc, this was now its peak performance; tis only gonna get progressively worse hereafter. Grumble.

It arrived today. Seems ok so far. Fits correctly into the laptop's battery compartment, phew [Objective 1 ✅ ]. Have done the advised cycle of discharge to 2%, recharge to 100%, to condition its charge-life. It didn't explode or ignite [Objective 2 ✅ ]. I installed two 16Gb DIMMs in a #Dell Latitude and had a spare 8Gb left. I tried to install it in my mother-in-law's #Asus VivoBook, but gave up. It the first laptop I've ever opened that had no access to the RAM without significant disassembly. Not fit for purpose. Every computer I own has been opened up and upgraded, some significantly, never seen such an ugly design before.

Look, I don't want to be all "back in my day" but back in my day we never had to worry about ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH errors trying to attach to our servers remote access board - i can't even remember if it was https -- it was a separate full height board.

In case you were wondering, Dell’s newly-announced UltraSharp 32 6K display comes in at an “ideal for HiDPI” rating from Dippi!

This means it should deliver a reasonably-sized UI while also showing off the benefits of true, pixel-perfect integer-scaled HiDPI: 4× crisper text, UI, and images without the blurriness of fractional scaling.

After being a happy #Dell #Precision 5530 user for 4+ years for work (I have used Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Manjaro on it without any issues), I ordered a Dell Precision 5570 for my wife for her work. ❤️
@clacke @carbontwelve I was instantly thinking about taking 2, despite enough laptops among the family. These #Dell’s are not bad, I use a 5-6 yrs old Inspiron 5570 (P75F) as the primary one. Works great.. and it’s an i3😱😇

PS. Was using a #ThinkPad R60 for years, repairing the (apparently not bulletproof) screen hinges, until it died the traditional Lenovo death: thermal paste dries out, repaired, but then one day☀️🌬🔥RIP
