Ummm... So my partner (who is a registered #Democrat) just pointed out that the Dems / #Biden camp aren't doing much to court #MiddleClass voters -- who are their biggest needed demographic. That does NOT bode well for the #2024Elections. I mean, I'm a #Green / #DemocraticSocialist, but I've also studied history and know what the stakes are, and will hold my nose and vote for Joe. But most folks are going to vote with their pocketbooks, I'm afraid to say...
I have a cousin who likes to send out emails explaining his #political worldview. That would be fine if he were a #DemocraticSocialist like he says. He is actually a hard conservative Democrat or sane moderate Republican (which no longer exists).
@ekongkaar @lovelylovely As a lifelong #DemocraticSocialist and #Democrat voter I heartily agree. But I’m sick inside that #Biden has irrevocably tarnished his reputation by supporting Bibi’s #PalestinianGenocide. I will continue to #VoteBlueNoMatterWho, but I’ll be doing it with a heavy heart in #2024.
Along with #Freedland & #Toynbee (among others), with full-throated encouragement from @guardian Editor-in-Chief Kath #Viner, Rafael #Behr essentially led the #Guardian’s five-year-long assault on #Corbyn & his leadership team - thereby legitimising the veracity of the #FakeAntiSemitism slur and giving the #FarRight press, the #ZionistLobby & #BBC state media “permission” to jump on the “destroy Corbyn” bandwagon!
Whilst they won’t admit it, they & the British establishment’s liberal lickspittle publication (aka the Guardian) fundamentally betrayed what remains of British democracy & probably destroyed any future possibility of a #DemocraticSocialist government in Britain!
Having helped return #May’s, #Johnson’s, #Truss’ & #Sunak’s #Tories to power in the 2017 & 2019 elections, #Behr is today (see below), apparently without any sense of contrition, savaging the Tories - calling them “utopian zealots” whose conference in Manchester this week “is not just the endgame of a tired government. It is the late stages of moral and intellectual putrefaction. It is a once great party, hollowed out by a parasitical protest movement, collapsing into a parody of itself.”
Problem is: after three-years of giving @UKLabour “leader” Sir #KidStarver & his Shadow Cabinet of #Blairite nondescripts & no-hopers a “free pass”, the Guardian ‘hacks’ are also belatedly waking up to the fact that the #Mandelson-influenced ‘heart’ of #Labour thinking is suffused with such vapidity as to make it utterly clueless in the face of the crises we all now face!
So proud of every Maine DSA member and all others who did the hard, arduous work of #canvassing for months to gather 80,000 signatures, more than enough to qualify for the ballot.

My political progression (a true story)
My first awareness of politics was a rally for Jimmy Carter in 1976 that my grandmother brought me to. I was too young to vote, but I liked Carter. He seemed genuine and down to earth.
When I was old enough to vote, I considered myself a #Utopian #Socialist, and had faith in humanity for a brief period.
After reality and cynicism kicked in, I voted #Green, #Socialist, #Independent -- anyone but the #Duopoly. I did that most of my life.
Then, #BernieSanders came onto the scene. A #DemocraticSocialist who shared my values and who had a chance to win -- before he was sabotaged by the DNC (and who could have won against Trump -- sorry, but it's true. In a debate, Bernie would have kicked T's ass. And Bernie did have populist appeal, just like the orange one).
Despite all that, I did vote for Biden in 2020 -- because I saw what #Fascism looked like under the orange one and his corrupt SCOTUS appointment. And yeah, I'll more than likely "hold my nose and vote for Joe" or Kamala -- because I hate fascists more than I hate inept and corrupt Dems. I won't tell others how to vote. But I thought I'd share how I've voted (and will vote).
If only #joebiden was as #DemocraticSocialist as #MarjorieTaylorGreen says he is.

i just learned that socialism.social exists and is run by DSA members! i just requested an account to scope it out
relatedly, it KILLS me how much DSA relies on #capitalist tech. Google, zoom, slack, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook - pretty much all business is conducted on proprietary capitalist platforms.
this is one area where it would be so easy to seize the means of production - that is, self host on open source solutions!
i mean it makes sense to maintain a presence on other social networks (gotta reach people where they are), but we, as a socialist movement, can't be exclusively dependent on them.
does anybody have a suggestion for an instance for #socialist political orgs?
i love my home instance but my political org is neither tech nor exclusively lgbt.
i know of kolektiva but I'm not convinced it's the best place for myriad reasons.
i really want to convince my DSA chapter to make a fediverse account but i want to have concrete suggestions in hand before i do so.

Having a flashback to the time when an old lady stopped me as I was leaving the grocery store because she saw my #DemocraticSocialist jacket and told me I needed God and to have a blessed day. That was the most Southern bullshit I had heard in awhile and I'm pretty sure I was going home after canvassing all day.
