I wish more #doctors would explain that doing nothing, or "wait and see", is often the most appropriate first step when dealing with a mystery illness. So when people get frustrated their doctor didn't have any answers, they go to another doctor, who also starts with "wait and see". This process is repeated until they find a charming quack with all the answers. Then they post about how everyone ignored them. This is your job, doctors!

Doctor's offices that are trigger-happy with billing notifications.
A few days ago I was told of a new charge. It also said that it would be automatically charged to my VISA card on date such and such, yay!
Then today I get another email merely telling me about the charge.
So I decide to go check. I'm asked to login, and... the system logs me into the wrong practice. I notice that there is no charge, but I also notice that I'm the wrong practice because this rigmarole has happened before. So I log out and use the other method to access my bill (they send an SMS to my phone with a code to log in).
The charge is there but it is the **same bloody charge** that the system told me would be automatically be taken care of.
WTF???
Do they realize that this kind of shit is making us waste time chasing after charges that we may or may not need to pay???
FFS!
I shouldn't have to turn into a damn bloodhound to figure out my bills.

I'm always a bit skeptical of presentations from tech company CEOs on
how their product areas are necessary in the mental health field.
That said, this article has a few good points:

I am beginning to think this also -- for better or worse. I took a VERY
fast 60 second look at NiceDay and it appears to be another
all-encompassing EHR, but with a strong emphasis on data. Lots of tools
and questionnaires and attractive graphs for therapists to monitor
symptoms. (I need to take a longer look later.) So data-driven could
be very good, if it does not crowd out the human touch.

Here in the USA, health care is pretty messed up.
Does anyone else have doctors leave their state, retire, close their practice as soon as you start using them? It happens to us CONSTANTLY here in Arizona for the past few years. Not sure how you're supposed to maintain any sense of continuous care in the USA in 2023.
It's all turning to what we call 'McMedicine' here in Arizona. The visits are BRIEF but we still owe our PCP like, hundreds of dollars that racks up for just regular visits and such (also, the "PCP" is a nurse, that's what they do here- nurses and physician assistants act as PCPs- it's VERY tough to find an actual doctor). Maybe it's a doctor shortage.
I always wonder what it's like in other states in the USA - we have Blue Cross/Blue Shield for insurance, and it's supposedly decent insurance.
Is it Arizona? Do they punish doctors here? Is it aftereffects of COVID? The USA in general and just the end results of a for-profit healthcare system that's obviously set up only for the very wealthy and continues to move in that direction?

As CNN reports, Arkansas' flagship university med school hospital UAMS has been on an orgy of filing lawsuits — numbers rose from 35 lawsuits in 2016 to more than 3,000 in 2021 — to recover payments owed for medical services, some as little as $100.
