Through Section 13f, large institutions have to make holdings public, which gives CEOs insight into whether their investors hold stock in their competitors. I’m reminded of that Star Trek: TNG clip where Quark finds out that the people of Earth irradiated their own planet on purpose.
Not only that, the people of Earth were so feckless at self-governance, that they also let irradiation weapons into the hands of psychopaths.
If and when humanity succeeds in not irradiating itself to death, that will be the ultimate underdog story.

Why are we not surprised to find out who is fanning the anti-#ESG flames:

It's possible that the turmoil over #ESG spreads to sectors outside #insurance. The threat of being labeled "anticompetitive" and accused of "collusion" would make companies think twice about declaring ESG principles.

This past week, we saw the first US Congressional Hearing on #ESG, courtesy of the House Oversight Committee.
Over three hours, it was clear that both parties were talking past each other as ESG is ill-defined, confusing, and full of nuance. However, at the center of the conversation was the definition of fiduciary.
While the hearing was largely reported as a disjointed mess, a few callouts are worth examining....and for #FinancialServices firms, I predict this is a precursor of things to come.
