🎧 "New" #Madonna 🔥
"This is a complete revamp of an alternative version of my 'Lucky Star' revision from 2013. Although I liked the groove, there was just not enough going on to make it work on its own, so I added sounds from the 'Burning Up' stems and just got creative as it's in a different key and tempo. The result is more like a new track than a basic mash-up. I love it and I hope you'll dig it too." — #TheReflex

This LP came out the summer after my senior year in HS and was on absolutely no one's radar in Tinytown, North Carolina. But a friend, a young Vietnam vet/longhair who still wore his fatigue jacket, played the drums and smoked all the weed, loved the band to death and taught me to.
🎧 RIP #JeanKnight — 1943-2023
In the summer of 1971, "Mr. Big Stuff" raced up the Top 40 and Soul charts, and was Billboard's #1 Soul Single that year. The record sold more than 2 million copies and was nominated for a Grammy.
"Mr. Big Stuff" was Knight's signature song, but she made many other soul and R&B records.

🎧 #TheClash played an astounding 17 sold-out shows at Bonds in New York in May and June, 1981, having planned to play only 8.
Wikipedia notes this "Rap Rock" record predated the release of Blondie's "Rapture" released that Winter.
#TheReflex sources the original multi-tracks or stems, including outtakes and crafts *revisions of classic tracks. Not remixes—new songs. No sound is added. The productions are crisp and flawless.
"I'm Gonna Love Your Just a Little Bit More Baby" is 50 years old in 2023 and sounds brand new!
🎧 I went shopping for a mood change on YouTube and found
"In love with a cute guy in Santa Monica in the 80s." Been there. A great memory. A great song and video. ❤️
"Mad About You"
🎥 #Video directed by Leslie Libman.
🎧 Last night. I posted "Trompe Le Monde" by The Pixies and said I wore out two cassettes.
Same with LAST SPLASH.
#TheBreeders "Cannonball" (1993)
The band have released clips with upgraded sound and visualizers. Wish they'd upgrade the video for this song. Kim Gordon and Spike Jonze directed.

Last Christmas, #Springsteen released an LP of soul and R&B covers—"Only The Strong Survive"
Bruce shoulda left "Someday We'll Be Together" alone, but otherwise, I love the collection.
"Do I Love You" was recorded by #FrankWilson in 1965.
🎧 If you've ever bought a book based on the cover, or wine because the label was cool, you may understand why I decided to give Jay Vasseur's deep house mix a listen.
🎧 📺 THE WAR ON DISCO will air/stream Monday, October 30 at 9/8c on #PBS AMERICAN EXPERIENCE.
It's no secret that the backlash against Disco was racist and homophobic. People of Color and queer people came together to dance and have fun, in public, in a safe space, and the "Afraid Somebody Somewhere Might Be Having Fun" crowd hated us for it.

🎧 “Thursday 6th July, 1972, is said to be 'the day that invented the 80’s’ as so many musicians who went on to be household names saw the #DavidBowie performance of STARMAN on #TOTP and it changed their lives. Those watching that night included U2’s Bono, The Cure’s Robert Smith, Boy George, Adam Ant, Mick Jones of the Clash, Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet, Morrissey and Johnny Marr of the Smiths, Siouxsie Sioux, Toyah Willcox..." etc.
🎧 Awake and grateful. Up at 4:30 and out to Circle K for coffee. A hundred pictures. Seems a trance now.
Listening to #TheStoneRoses "Fools Gold" while I review and edit images. The 10:00 HD version. Breakbeat breakfast.
📷 I parked at the abandoned gas station, left the door open and FM blaring.
While I snapped a series of reflections in a puddle, #PearlJam's "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town" played.
#Milwaukee | Yesterday, in the build-up to the GOP "debate" I thought about Milwaukee. About the time I visited my Uncle and Aunt in Waukesha in 1967, and Laverne & Shirley and Happy Days and Jeffrey Dahmer—finally The Violent Femmes and Trixie Mattel.
I did NOT know Ms. Trixie recorded "Blister in the Sun!" Well done :-)
That's the backstory to this post. 😂
🎧 #Mood | #ElectronicUK was a side project of #NewOrder's #BernardSummer and #TheSmiths' #JohnnyMarr. The self-titled debut LP combined Marr's guitar with the synth sounds of New Order to make something new.
This is the "DNA Groove Mix" of "Get The Message" (1991).
🎧 x 🎬 Forty years ago this month, "Eddie and the Cruisers" was one of my first freelance #PR gigs in Hollywood. Music-related marketing services—a new PR niche in the MTV-era.
The movie tanked and was yanked after a month, but when it was released on cable and home video, "On The Dark Side" got the respect it deserved.
🎧 Here's a REVISION of "Groove is in the Heart" YT served up this week.
#TheReflex uses the original tapes and outtakes from the recording sessions to create an entirely new track. You'll see!
As heard on "The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show @ #BBC Radio6.
