We also made time in our #DoorsOpenDay exploring to treat ourselves to Mary's Milk Bar for some of the bestest ice-cream in town! I opted for dark chocolate and a scoop of cardamom cream with mango, enjoyed on the steps of the Vennel, with views of Edinburgh Castle.

NB one resident quoted claims "people who feel like prisoners in their own homes because they can’t get out where they want to go, because they’re not mobile enough if they’re not driving". That's clearly mad, as #Edinburgh's public transport is as good as it gets in Scotland (and Costorphine has an excellent bus service). And knowing the area a wee bit, I suspect that if you tried to get a car out of a driveway onto St John's Road at peak traffic times, you would feel trapped!
This is interesting- councillor claiming that a #bus gate in #Edinburgh "is not working" because it's led to £100,000 of fines in its first two months. Be interesting to see whether there is, in fact, something wrong with the scheme, or if #drivers are just getting it wrong. Anyone here in the #Costorphine area want to comment?/...

@scottishlass I don't go to the local chippy. I'm on Grassmarket in #Edinburgh, so it's a tourist/drunk targeted place. It was ALWAYS overpriced but has become simply obscene of late.
This was the last straw for me:- Four quid for an undersized portion of cold chips. That was two years ago.
Also LOATHE these fucking polystyrene containers. They ruin chips and don't absorb excess vinegar like paper wrappings do. And they don't rot down like paper wrappings do.
