モーンの城はアイテム回収も含めて割とあっさり攻略完了しました。ボスが大きくて早くてリーチも長くてジャンプ攻撃してくるんだけど、道中のモブエネミーが似たような動作なので、そこまで苦戦しなかった。それを考えると、 #eldenring って42ゲーとは言えど、ヒントや立ち回り練習を組み込見ながらボスに向かわせて、よく作り込まれているんだな。

ストームヴィル城攻略は、外周の火炎樽投げてくる戦鷲地帯を乗り越えた先の失地騎士をようやく安定して倒せるようになったところで切り上げ。失地騎士さんには散々ボコられたけど、密着で盾構えて反時計回りで回り込んでバックスタブ仕掛ける戦法が効きますね。ダクソでの学びがここでも効いている。しかし、厳しいダンジョンですねぇ(ベッドに寝転びながら)。 #eldenring
I would say the final boss in #LiesOfP is in the same difficulty league as the Radagon/Elden Beast pair from #EldenRing.
Still working my way through it, I'm already reasonably proficient in the first part of the fight, but the next one still eludes me.

I've platinumed several of those games (#EldenRing, #Nioh, #Sekiro).
The lack of difficulty options never bothered me.
Having difficulty options would create PvP balance challenges (doesn't apply to Sekiro). If someone chose "easy" mode, perhaps they'd be able to play with/against only those gamers who'd also chosen easy mode.

I was just looking up player stats for #EldenRing on the #Xbox and the truth about most games today is that only a minority progresses to the end.
Case(s) in point:
* first real boss, Margit, is beaten by half of the players
* for Radahn this is down to a third
* and once your in the final stages with Malekith, only one in four players is still with you.
So the vast majority of players of #VideoGames will never see the end of it and experience them fully.
We finished #EldenRing today. Good game for most of its loooong runtime, tho some endgame stuff was questionable... #PS4share

And it's not all AAA games problem. #EldenRing feels way better in comparison. It's brutal in the beginning, but it allows me to learn and adapt.
Fond #gaming memory: I was watching someone else play #EldenRing and idly mentioned how the PvP scene was presently dominated by Rivers of Blood, then the streamer scoffed and said "that's old news; I'm gonna go into PvP and just spam the Rivers of Blood special attack over and over, watch me get destroyed."
He proceeded to kill the host player five times out of five attempts with that exact strategy and promptly ended the stream in embarrassment.
Much progress in #EldenRing today. Beat the Draconic Tree Sentinel, Beast Clergyman/Maliketh, Sir Gideon Ofnir, Godfrey, and First Elden Lord / Hoarah Loux. I've beaten Radagon a couple of times but failed on the Elden Beast.

Somewhat to my surprise I defeated the Godskin Duo on my third attempt. I'd practiced in the Spiritcaller Cave. I think my only strategy was to focus on the Godskin Apostle as the easier of the two. It's the joint health bar that matters #EldenRing

Fck I hate the Godskin Duo! #EldenRing
Bought some games on #Steam recently lol idk what's wrong with me when I already have too many I haven't even touched yet. Tried out #LittleNoahScionofParadise, never played a #game like that before and was never interested - but saw it briefly on a video and it got my interest, and so far it's really, really fun. More challenging than I expected, but not in a bad way and not at all frustrating (not the same type of game obviously, but I had the same opinion with #EldenRing which I also loved). Combat in the game also strongly reminds me of #NierAutomata which I LOVE.
Now with all the talk about #Unity and learning more about the game from a more in-depth video recently, I'm super interested into getting #CultoftheLamb. I just need a tiny little discount to push me over the edge and pull the trigger.

Beat Godfrey (Golden Shade) and Morgott today, this second after only two or three goes. Learning tactics from son (age 11) although he hasn't been playing anywhere as long as me! #EldenRing
It's strange, playing offline in #EldenRing / #DarkSouls feel much more lonely, even though I'm 99% alone anyhow.
Of course, it's due to the absence of messages and bloodstains.
Those make the games a lot more light hearted, and make me feel safer. Without them, the atmosphere is more opressive and scarier.
Interestingly, I only feel that way because I've been conditioned to expect the messages everywhere, whereas other games don't have them in the first place, so there's nothing to miss.
While convalescing with COVID I stepped back into the world of #EldenRing, which I put down months ago. I find the setting, the mythos, and the mechanics extremely compelling, but it feels so arbitrarily difficult. I had to look up a guide to get to a particular place to farm experience to level up to almost 100 before the game started to feel normal, so I could kill normal mob enemies in a few hits instead of each being a mini boss unto itself.
Just finished a #Bloodborne run which ended up being a skill + bloodtinge build. Wasn't my original intention, but goddamn the #Chikage and #Evelyn do sooooo much damage, it's kind of absurd in the mid-game when you have most of the upgrades but the enemies haven't scaled yet. I was worried the self-damage would be a deal breaker, but it really wasn't a big deal (except for Moon Presence and it's "You now have 1HP" attack).
If I ever have time for another #EldenRing playthrough I need to try a blood or katana build. It was so much fun here and I want more.

The one thing that sucks a bit with #EldenRing is that there's no cross progression ie. you don't have a #FromSoft account to which you save your build and progress from one platform (eg Xbox) and then continue on another platform (eg PC).
Okay. So I've played three #Fromsoft games to completion (I've also put 4-5 hours into Dark Souls and plan on returning later).
If I was to rank them in terms of which is my favourite it'd look like this. Thoughts?
All of these games are amazing, but for me #EldenRing and #Sekiro are far and away my favourite two entries in their catalogue.
#Bloodborne is incredible, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it's world connected with me as much as it does with others.

Is this just about #EldenRing from now on? Probably.
I’ve loved open world RPGs and TTRPGs. For decades Elder Scrolls was my favorite, especially Daggerfall and later Skyrim. I favored expression over challenge, or so I thought.
Skyrim arrived 2011-11-11 & I’ve played it off and on multiple times since; beaten it; started umpteen alts, &c.
Elden Ring surpassed Skyrim in my estimation & played time in under a year. I’d never played any Dark Souls before that.

I managed to get a cool new weapon and shield last night for my Confessor… I’m up to level 30-something. Time to go back to the starting areas and take on some bosses, maybe?!

Okay. I think I’m at a place where I’m open to a few general tips about #EldenRing, but please don’t spoil the game or any secrets for me.
1) I’m playing as a Confessor.
2) I’m still very new, level 17.
3) I have my mount + spirit ashes.
4) I’ve picked up 2 maps.
5) I’ve been owned by every boss I’ve tried but I’m improving. 😆
So far I've played #EldenRing for 4 hours and I haven't beaten a single boss, I have no runes because I keep dying, and I'm basically about as terrible as anyone could be at the game.
But I knew I'd be terrible at it.
The repeated deaths don't make me mad.
I'm just chillin'.
Did I know there was no difficulty accessibility setting? yes. I bought it anyway.
I don't need tips, btw. Just talking into the video game void.

Here we are, at the half-way mark. There are 182 days ahead, and 182 days behind. For today, I decided on something special
Turns out, in return for my upgrading my son's computer last night, he bought me the game of my choice today... which was Elden Ring. Again.
Technically, this is not an "unplayed" game. My kids bought me Elden Ring for my birthday last year, and I attempted to play it, got intensely frustrated with it, and quit out after 80 minutes and got a refund.
I simply didn't understand that death is part of a soulslike.
However, in the process of playing through this project, I grasped the play style of a soulslike, which brings me back to Elden Ring.
In case you've been living under all of the rocks, Elden Ring is a third-person open-world soulslike action-RPG.
It's dark, and brooding, almost devoid of colour. As with other soulslikes, there are points within the game that you can return to either when resurrecting, or to (effectively) save your progress.
However, do that, and it resurrects all the mobs you just killed, doesn't it? (Yes. It does.)
There's a constant trade-off between returning to these points to restore your energy, and effective save your inventory, and upgrade, or to keep moving forward, in the hope of finding what Elden Ring calls a "Site of Grace".
Starting over from the beginning on a fresh save, I learned something that I missed first time around... when I quit out after 80 minutes in March 2022, I hadn't even completed the tutorial. The final tutorial boss frustrated me so badly, I gave up.
Probably should have gone in with a character base far less squishy too.
This time, as a Vagabond, I died twice, and I enjoyed myself.
It's still not "I MUST PLAY THIS UNTIL I AM FINISHED!", but it's definitely "I'm going to willingly spend some time in this game."
Thus, at the halfway point of #Project365ONG, I'm happy to say, having given it another shot, Elden Ring is:

Hm.. gestern den neuen Gameplay Trailer von #Starfield gesehen. Ich glaub dass ist ähnlich wie bei #EldenRing - ich kann froh sein, keine passende Hardware zu haben. Und selbst wenn ich die hätte, wäre meine DSL Leitung zu dünn um Updates zu laden. 😅
#EldenRing update: Elden beast down! The age of stars commences.
That was… uh… _challenging_ to put it mildly.
Placidusax was tough but not _too_ bad once I unlocked the nearby sight of grace rather than running past the very angry ancient dragon.
I struggled more with the tree sentinel outside of maliketh than I did with maliketh proper. Finally just gave up on the tree sentinel and ran past them to the gold door.
Gideon was straightforward.
Radagon was mostly just not screwing up.

The one thing in #TearsOfTheKingdom that is, actually, #EldenRing inspired is:
those fucking linear quests that you can't advance unless you psychically know where the random NPC with dialog flag you missed is.
I had to literally criss cross the map FOUR TIMES before I could get rolling on the fairy fountains, because all of that is dead ended behind this one incidental encounter that I never even had because I didn't take the road the designers expected, or go to the zone they wished I would first.
That kind of quest chain design really doesn't need to be in open world games. It can fuckin die. It's awful.
It isn't a problem with short quests, because like Zelda did here, you build each dead point in the quest with a dialog prompt hinting where you need to go first.
Except.
They wanted epic long quest chains, that interconnect, like Elden Ring.
Oops.
Just like #EldenRing learned a lot from #BreathOfTheWild, I feel like #TearsOfTheKingdom has learned a lot from #EldenRing in return.
So how long will it be before someone puts the latest #Zelda map into #EldenRing ? I'd love to see it.
#EldenRing is the first “souls” game where I beat a major boss the first time I tried.
