I can sit in the lab legit all day with MK. There’s so many combo routes and interactions, Kameos actually are the complete sauce, and most people were complaining after seeing them the first time (myself included).

Was having some fun mucking about with Rivals of Aether workshop characters and thought "Lets hop online and try these out in a real match". Remember kids, nothing good can come of playing a fast competitive game when you're tired. It's been a good long while since I shouted at my screen! But really, it would have been polite to stop comboing me once during the match...
#TrueStory: I maintain a #SF6 battle journal. Every time I play I look back at my successes and struggles, write them down: what worked well and what didn’t.
This gives me actual actionable points to work on, so I know where to put my focus on, what to correct, what to practice etc. Doing this gives me a clear path to follow towards success.

The in-between-legs crawling animation is super well done, but the choke itself is even more awesome: Notice how Chun-Li's left arm gets caught in the choke? That's textbook triangle choke stuff. You use your opponent's arm to tighten the triangle, making them choke on their own arm and your leg.
Watch how Chun-Li gradually passes-out, sinking to the ground, one knee at a time. The whole move is EPIC. #SF6 #FGC

#Reddit's recent video framing change really sucks for the #FGC. It auto-crops videos to match a certain (taller) aspect ratio. Unfortunately in fighting games, a lot of time is spent in the corner, at the sides of the screen leading to videos like this. Pretty much all the FGC content I follow is significantly worse because of this change.
I get why auto-cropping is a big thing for product and UX individuals, but ultimately the author's *intent* should trump everything. This is just one example where that intent is not being respected and how it directly impacts sub-communities with niche use cases.
Do Tier Lists help or hurt the FGC? I wanted to talk a little about why I think they don’t apply to 95% of players that will ever touch a fighting game, but end up becoming huge tent poles.
Tomorrow will be my first Smash Bros tournament in half a year! I took a break to focus on the new home, the rest of life, and enjoy more of a focus on smash with friends while still trying to improve.
I still really REALLY want to be someone who can make it through the ranks. I think I've gotten quite a lot better, but so has everyone that's continued on the competitive scene.

I promised more pics of my #arcadestick! Built from scratch from acrylic plates, always in progress, and surprisingly reliable, the SaltFighter V5a is the closest i get to feeling like a shonen protagonist.
I built it from scratch in 2014 and have been iterating on it since, swapping out parts Ship of Theseus style.
With each new game i learn i add artwork of my main to a button. It's a symbol of where I've been. Who I've been.

I might lose to a Marisa but it's never out of confusion. I understand what she does and wants and dislikes
The only question is if i can sufficiently exploit that with my new character. My Ken doesn't do enough damage yet or create enough pressure, so i have to rely on #StreetFighter fundamentals. I'm too honest and i need to play less tight/defensive

He's less explosive than Marisa but more mobile with more tools. The hard part is unlearning Marisa habits/tactics and learning into what makes Ken Masters scary.
There are confirms i know i need to learn (CH 5HK -> Run, 2MK -> anything) and some i don't know how to apply (2LK, 2LP, 5LK, 623HP) but I'm here learning a pocket character

Because losing IS part of learning, perhaps the place to find a little joy is in ANY change to LP.
Gaining or losing LP means that I put myself out there and gave it a shot. I didn't remain stagnant with my play.
And even losing LP is a sign that I helped someone else in the #fgc play a real game (the best that the matchmaking algorithm could provide, at least).

Hi! AJ / Tyron / “gay pink robot”, both drowning in and contributing to the forever nightmare hole of other people’s software.
I maintain a VRChat mahjong parlor, do yearly fighting game dumpster dives on the Kusoge Advent Calendar, and I’m working with a team of friends on Dr. Robotnik’s Ring Racers, a classic-style kart racer with deep roots in Doom source ports.
When not doing that, I’m shouting about MMO encounter design, falling into arcade game special-interest sinkholes, or getting strangled by my own audio setup as I try to sample “metal pipe falling sfx.wav” in weird bespoke music software.
