Last night, I played #poker with my wife & two kids! It was fun to play one of my favorite games again. Since I moved to NC, I've been meaning to put together a group to play, but have never managed to succeed.
I also started reading _The #Hobbit_ to my kids before bed instead of the normal picture books.
I've never been happier to be a #father.
I want to share something with you.
My therapist once told me, in regards to my relationship with my father:
“Like it or not, you have a relationship with your father. Everybody has a relationship with A father, even if they don’t have or ever had a father. Having a father is part of everyone’s psyche, therefore you have a relationship with a or your father. The only thing you need to do is define this relationship the best way it works for you. It doesn’t have to be ideal, it just needs to not jeopardize your life.”

I can't imagine ever being a #parent who demands things from her children. Like John and like his father before him, I brought them into this world. I owe them, not the other way around. And only when they surpass me in every conceivable way will I have done my job as a mother to my satisfaction.
It's tragic that we keep having to say this because between 1967 and now, I'd have hoped our #society would have learned something. Maybe one day we'll get lucky, and this #wisdom will stick.

Have been watching some early episodes of "Borgen" lately. Great TV drama.
Most of Borgen is new to me. When it came out I only watched the occasional episode when I visited my father back home.
He is no more. I miss him so much.
He died several years ago. He died peacefully, at an advanced age. He had lived a full life. We were close and there was no unfinished business between us. His death was a completion.
Yet his absence still hurts.
Becoming a #father shrinks your #cerebrum.
