What's reach? I asked a buddy of mine who works at Edison to define it. They say:

So a very good gauge of what 10,000 people say they are listening to. No, they won't tell me who those 10,000 people are. Dangit.

The iHeartPodcast Awards have been announced. It's a "Best of show" type award, ostensibly to highlight a single "best of " for each category.
In the category of Best #FictionPodcast, this year's winner is Welcome To Nightvale (https://www.welcometonightvale.com/), a noted icon in the fiction podcast space with more than 200 episodes over a decade.

Though it's a sample size of one, and correlation is not causation, this is a pretty compelling bit of evidence that appearing in this little newsletter has a pretty dramatic effect on getting new people to listen to a complete #AudioDrama or #FictionPodcast.

anticipation time! My agent is looking over #AudioDrama contracts for a short fiction serial. I know these are largely indie spaces, but still, my agent is the best! Other writers, seriously, ask your agent about representing your #FictionPodcast work too. While mine said yes, many might not know anything about contracts and similar in the podcast space so check with your agent!
Basic premise is below.
Jackson, a legally Blind college student, goes viral for looking at his phone as he is typing. Quickly turning into inspiration porn, he soon receives an email that offers him free room and board at an apartment complex for Atypicals, people with superpowers. Many mistakenly believe he has powers to change people’s moods because of the inspiration porn factor.
When he arrives at the complex, everyone is nice and friendly, but there's one problem. Not everyone likes regular humans, and he's got to keep his powerless status a secret or else he could be executed.
Despite this, friendships and even romance blossom and bloom. Someone is determined to uncover his secret, though, and won’t stop until Jaxson is out of the picture, and the atypical world, for good.
I love #Pandoc because it is so easy to convert #Fountain scripts into DOCX format! 2 programs below will convert plain text into beautiful screenplay/stage/radio formats.
All my scripts are written in Fountain. I'm pitching a bunch this week!
This script allows you to convert Fountain Files into Docx files. Many assume PDF would be better, but the #FictionPodcast calls I've seen all like some flavor of Word. While some like PDF, still, this tool can help convert into multiple script formats.

I really want to see more #podcasters — specifically #FictionPodcast creators — embrace #Mastoson and the #Fediverse. Not because I’m lonely or selfish reasons. (I’m having a great and highly rewarding time here!) But because I want them to break the Big Social trap.
Big social has *always* treated podcasters as 2nd class citizens. Not just from empty promises or canceled podcast-y initiatives, though those are legion.
But because they all kinda hate podcasting or see it as worthless.

It's pretty crazy to verbalize (textualize?), but I've featured 54 fiction podcasts in the newsletter since inception just a few months ago.

According to various dark scholars, the "Ill Omen" are a race of creatures that may have been the basis for Washington Irving 's "Headless Horseman." Few know the entities' origins, but they are characterized as ghastly horsemen with no head. However, it is said when they decapitate their victim they take the severed head as their own - the skull becoming wreathed in blue flames, slowly devouring the soul within. Their moniker comes from the fact that their arrival is preceded by bad omens - birds flying into windows, mirrors cracking, black cats crossing one's path, etc. One may also hear the tortured screams of the heads they've taken, bellowing in agony as their spirits are slowly burned away in cobalt fire.

The city of Nighthead was one of the first cities to adopt the "nocturnalism" movement - a lifestyle that is predominantly lived during the night rather than day. The city incorporates many Obscura, including the Black Pyramid (or the Pyramid of Nox). It's also home to the much reviled "Dark Hats," a pejorative term for a local religious sect.
