Fantastic intro to creating a #designsystem from #figma Well worth a watch, and not too long!
The simplicity of the #adobexd application appeals to me more than the #figma interface, but that's where the advantages end. No web version and no multiplatformity, no development and uncertain future of the application. And to only selected problems. Although it involves pain and expenses for the same company's product, it's time for a change.

I’m sure this question has been asked a bajillion times, but how much memory would I need in a M2 MacBook Air for my typical workflow? I am in #Figma every day and typically have about 8 Figma tabs and 5 safari tabs open, Microsoft Teams, various excel and word files that aren’t too crazy. Occasionally I will have Photoshop open. My 2015 8gb Macbook Pro handles things surprisingly well until I have to turn on my webcam in Teams and it usually all goes to shit. Is this even a memory issue? #apple
There goes the idea of using #Lottie #Figma plugin to generate some animated videos. It has a bug that fills the empty space that is inside an element. Would've been nice to use an app I'm already well versed in, but I guess I need to use something else.
What is the best free editing software on either Mac or iPad for creating animations? Or a relatively cheap one that you don't have to pay a subscription for? Have barely done any motion design, so ease of use is also appreciated.

When I started using #Figma in 2021 I decided to design lots of landing pages for various topics.
I reached my goal to do creative work, being able to design fast and getting used to most important Figma commands just within a month.
I made this flow into a clickable #Figma prototype. I can see it need some more work - but the flow kind of works.

Are there any «modern» #vectorgraphic editors out there, with features like auto layout – that also offer decent PDF-X-Export? (Yes, yes, there are still people around that design for print …)
Adobe #Illustrator has the proper PDF export but hasn't added any useful features for years now.

So useful. One of things I love about #figma is the massive library of plugins that extend the native app capabilitites. If you want to do it, chances are there’s a plugin to do it.

Designing stuff in #figma and I ran into an issue. In this screenshot I made a custom dropdown, but I am realizing now that in html I cant have custom colors (maybe ill be able to do fonts?)

Really cool article on using Figma to run tabletop RPGs remotely. It's a clever mix of manipulating master components and syncing with Google Sheets to change the appearance of users' prototype screens using real-ish data.
But it's also a solid "no code" technique, I think, for evaluating other kinds of UI in early Wizard-of-Oz style user tests. Excited to try this out for myself and with clients.

A free “Learn design” course by #Figma → 12 lessons, 5 exercises
Here are more details. I wanted it to be as close to the web UI as possible in terms of layout so there's almost no learning curve. It's almost just a port of the web UI to XAML in Windows. All of these are designed in #Figma btw.
I use this trick daily in Figma now that I've learned it: You can copy a frame as a PNG to your clipboard (without exporting) by selecting the frame and then hitting command + shift + C

What kind of (compensated) conferences could a #frontend developer with a knack for #accessibility apply to?
I don't have a significant following, nor a personal website (yet), but plenty of workshops / presentations ready.
I applied to #figma #Config2023 but they said no and ghosted me ever since. I also know of #id24 but that's about it. All the other ones I know and like are invite-only as far as I can tell.

#Vivaldi のカスタマイズアイコンコンテスト、#Figma テンプレート用意されてるのにあえて #Affinity で作ってみてる。
#Affinity が書き出す #SVG って塗りを真っ黒にすると fill の設定が未設定になって、そうなると実質 fill: currentColor と同じ扱いになるっぽくて SVG の中身変更しなくても、Vivaldi 側で設定したテーマカラーに則したアクセントカラーが適応されるっぽくて、ちょっとだけラク。（SVG の書き出し設定としては Affinity のこの挙動はちょっとイレギュラーな気がするけど）
あと、#Affinity の v2 から実装されたアウトライン表示の X-Ray モード、微妙に塗りが薄く見えて、いわゆるアウトラインモードより格段に良い… :tony_smiling:

The ability to adjust border radius values on the fly would be pretty cool, but more generally I think it would be better to have additional types of properties that can be used in more ways within the main component (e.g. an 'integer' property type that I can use to drive the border radius of a corner). #figma #ui #ux #design
I am gradually learning how to spell Figma, but I cannot for the life of me get custom SF Symbols working. When I try to create the thicker ones, ”Outline Stroke” messes up my vertices so they can’t be interpolated. Anybody have any good references/tutorials for this process? #figma #SFSymbols

all the prototype interactions can now be done by defining states and creating a single screen, instead of a dozen screens and one hundred arrows between them. :)
