Top 5 destinations of Filipinos, according to Agoda
2. Hong Kong
"The poll, carried out from July 22 to 26, found that 50% of Filipino families, or around 13.2 million households, rated themselves as poor."
“This is an additional 1.9 million Filipino families who now consider themselves poor or ‘new poor.'"
So yeah I'm not a true convert to any particular platform. Lack of #Filipinos on both #Bluesky and #Mastodon is a huuuuge limitation. At least Mastodon has enough of us SE Asians to chat with but it feels more like a cozy #Discord server rather than a place to derive any particular utility from. I still have to message my telecom provider over FB or Xitter.
But TBH I spend most of my time on Discord. I post here when nobody on Discord is replying to me lol.
The Ph has a rice shortage. Former agriculture secretary Piñol said that the rice industry was taken control by the rice cartel after the implementation of the Rice Tarification Law.
Maybe the country can have a full-time agriculture secretary now?
"Win like a Woman"
Leni Robredo as Ph president is one of Ph history's biggest what-ifs. The 2022 election day was also when I realized that Ninoy Aquino was wrong when he said that the "Filipino is worth dying for."
The Ph I love now only dwells in my heart, and it no longer resides in other Filipinos or in this country. 💔
Love the Philippines mistake
Pagcor logo flop
Instead of working, the Marcos Junior government is obsessed with branding.
Will a new logo give me a new job? Will it bring down prices? Will it pay for my medical expenses?
Here are the matches of the Ph women's football team in the World Cup. Yes, they qualified.
Switzerland (July 21)
New Zealand (July 25)
Norway (July 30)
Asian teams Japan, Vietnam and China are also in the World Cup.
just contacted the #Microsoft #disability Answer Desk via #BeMyEyes to ask for help in formatting my PDF document. They remote in to my computer using quick assist and boom, all is fixed. they are always very helpful on these kind of situations.
and did you know that all representatives/agents on the disability answer desk are all #Filipinos? something to be proud of! our fello #Kababayans are doing a big difference! If you are by any chance in #Fediverse and may have read this toot, I would like to say thank you very much for all the work you're all doing! #Mabuhay kayo!

The Ph movie board is considering banning the film "Barbie" because it shows China's invalid 9-dash-line claim in a map. Vietnam has already banned the movie.
@jikodesu I follow/monitor the following keywords/hashtags:
* #Filipino / #Filipinos
* #Philippines / #Pilipinas / #Filipinas (the last one, as per the KWF, we should use it and not “Pilipinas” *shrugs*)
* #Pilipino / #Pilipina / #Filipina
* #Pinoy / #Noypi
* #Baybayin / #Surat / #Suyat / #Sulat
Then we have these groups/magazines/communities:
Here are the sources of disinformation in 10 of Rappler's latest Fact Checks, and 10 of Philippine Star's latest Fact Checks:
SMNI (of Pastor Quiboloy): 1
hot-take: #filipinos should not nor ever praise #web3 or any #cryptocurrency related. our country is already in poverty and we solving it using these technologies is just scamming your own future with fake wealth. imagine solving cryptographic puzzles just to get money. sure some of these are require low energy now but it doesn't change the fact that the reward does not translate solving ***real problems***.
In Korea, they have plenty of online forums and spaces where Koreans can talk about anything… and even anonymously (at least after the SSN requirement was repealed).
It's both good and bad.
Good: they can discuss topics that matters for their country and culture. Or, the latest trends. Create memorable and funny memes that even gets the attention of variety show celebrities.
Bad: it can be used, especially by anonymous users, to reveal private information, cancel an actor, start a campaign to force a TV/Cable network to a cancel a fictional show.
This online culture, from my vantage point, came up because of the language barrier. English is not a common second language in Korea, thus, instead of Koreans using Facebook and Twitter and Instagram (before Instagram became popular there), naturally one would be in a space where you can communicate with everyone else. That is their own local online forums and communities.
This is what the #Philippines lack. We rely so much on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
I am thinking… maybe, just maybe, having a #Kbin instance for the #Filipinos can help build this local community / space where we can lay down everything and talk what matters to us without all those foreign companies dictating to us what we can see and can not see (a.k.a. algorithms), and say and can not say (a.k.a. the precious community guidelines of FB that they themselves don't even follow).
Something similar to what South Korea have. Minus, hopefully, the bad usage of it.
Just some #RandomThought ^_^
I don't know if it will be successful or not. But I want to experiment and learn more about the software, and the best way to do that is to actually use it. (And maybe suggest a feature or two later on.)
Those are the usual tags used by Filipinos and foreigners. The microblog section of the magazine should be able to capture those posts that reaches the fedia.io instance.
“June is Filipino Heritage Month”
Mable Elmore, Parliamentary Secretary for Anti-Racism Initiatives, has issued the following statement in celebration of Filipino Heritage Month:
“June is Filipino Heritage Month and an opportunity to learn about Filipino culture and the unique contributions that this quickly growing community has brought to B.C.”
“Our government will continue to tackle racism by legislating race-based data collection through the Anti-Racism Data Act and by addressing systemic racism in its programs and services by introducing broader anti-racism legislation in 2024.”

It puzzles me that the Smart network has the fastest mobile download speeds in the Ph but rival Globe has more subscribers.
Why do you have a Globe SIM?
What the? Are you kidding us?
“DICT’s ‘Project: SIM Check Mo’ puts subscribers at risk of number scraping, other attacks”
“The project lets any mobile user to text “SIM Check” plus the phone number of any subscriber to 1326 (DICT’s hotline), and they will receive the registration status of the number, the initials of its owner, and if the record of the number is in good standing.”
‘“Project: SIM Check Mo” is a “solution” looking for a problem that it can eventually become. Already, foreign numbers such as Malaysian ones are being used to spread spam and scam messages to Philippine mobile subscribers. SIM Check Mo simply cannot address that. As such, this project will be a failure from day one.’
“March of the Valiant: The Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea”
Me: Pre-colonial times, the people of what we later known as “Filipinos” were already feared across what we know today as Asia-Pacific. Post-colonial times, Filipinos are still a force to reckon with, and they know to never wake the sleeping Philippine eagle if they want to keep the current status quo.
There are other communities that I haven't searched for and expanded my #fediverse reach (a.k.a. #ObservableFediverse).
2. #Kosher food
3. #Running and #Archery (in particular Asian archery)
My “observable fediverse” is well-built now for #autism / #autistics / #ActuallyAutistics, great community we have here; and #Filipinos / #Philippines, even discovered new, great Filipinos I wouldn't have found elsewhere.
As for fandoms, it's slow. There are fans and fandom accounts, but most are casually active. I'm not talking about sharing photos (although that is part of it), it's more of in discussion threads.
So, again, you need to build and grow your “observable fediverse” because it will determine and shape what you are seeing and who you are interacting with in the fediverse.

Must Read: How Myanmar’s Crime Hub is Destabilizing the Region -
"#Myanmar’s military coup in 2021 has triggered a widespread humanitarian crisis but also a breakdown in the rule of law. And the security situation is getting worse by the week. With the rise of lawlessness, the coup has provided freedom for cyber-criminals, human traffickers and gunrunners to operate along the border with Thailand. In the city of Shwe Kokko, Karen State opposite #Thailand’s Mae Sot, #Chinese triad gangs and criminals are exploiting the turmoil following the military takeover to expand their criminal activities.
"(...) Last year, #Filipinos, #Malaysians, #Indonesians, #Indians, Thais, #Taiwanese, #Bangladeshis, #Brazilians, #Kenyans, #Colombians and Hong Kongers traveled to Thailand on the promise of jobs, only to find themselves trafficked across the border to Shwe Kokko."
They're noisy and belches smoke but I feel sad that Filipinos might be losing a part of city culture. On June 30, there will be no more jeepneys.
The new season of the Ph's Premier Volleyball League kicks off today at 4:00pm and will be shown live on TV on the OneSports channel.

I'm fine with creating and sustaining a new network here. My shitpost about Filipino pop music about demons and #monsterfucking allowed for #Filipinos and #Malaysians to compare notes on our respective #folklore creatures. https://social.horrorhub.club/@cordillera/109668528537517042
That wouldn't have happened on Twitter. I've posted the same videos on Twitter before and got no response. Here, the chronological feed brings all the other #SEAsians to the yard. #TwitterMigration 4/🧵
#TIL about the whole "suomi mainittu" thing that finnish people do and i think it's so damn awesome. especially love the whole energy that comes with the follow-up of "torilla tavataan"! i kind of feel like we #filipinos do the same thing here in the US but not to the extent that it becomes an established and well-practiced two-part meme. 😄
The fact that someone so closely allied with the Marcoses now holds the top Internal Revenue position means that we #Filipinos will never see a peso of payment in terms of what their family owes in taxes. What are they in power for, indeed. This makes me sick. #Philippines
So excited to see more #filipinos joining and giving #introductions on #mastodon ! I didn’t get to grow up with a lot of Filipino friends until I got closer to my college years and even now being from the USA I often feel like my identify is always in questions. I’m a 2nd Gen Filipino American from NYC with a French name and does comedy. Being in my 30s I feel like I’m on a second wind with life. Happy Sunday #fediverse ✨
