For the past few days I have been trying to setup GNU/Linux on my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 without rooting it. There was a lot of trial an error, but I managed to have it working well enough.
I hope I get time to do a more in depth HOW-TO, but the key steps are:

3) Install VSCode

Don't take the unnecessary risk of running #Wireshark as #root. Instead, create your capture file (.cap, .pcap) with #tcpdump (`sudo tcpdump -i eth0 -w file.pcap`), then open it for analysis in Wireshark as your regular non-root user. 👍

I think this is the first time I get to work a paid job using libre tools (GNU Guix and its packages) and be able to release the resulting work as a libre cultural work. It feels great 🙂

Today I'm spending some time writing up an outline for a new guide and video series about Guile Scheme!
The goal is to teach anyone (even programming beginners, if possible) how to use Scheme as a language for building personal tools (scripts, etc) and managing their system via Guix. Guix itself won't be covered in depth, but the features of the language used commonly in Guix will be!

Before executing important commands and scripts over #SSH, use #screen in case of disconnect. If your connection drops or you close the terminal, you can SSH back in and enter `screen -r` to recover from where you left off. While I agree with the @fsf warning about the emblematic value of the decision by #Google to pull support for #JpegXL from #Chrome, their article <https://u.fsf.org/3z8> is as empty as could be, _especially_ considering that #GNU #IceCat doesn't support JPEG XL either (being based on a #Firefox branch that doesn't build #JXL support in.) You want to show that #FLOSS can do without? Do it by actually supporting what you complain Google is failing to.
