👾 Here's a couple of great retro titles for the PlayStation 1. Driver 2 and Sim City 2000.
The Driver series was my first true open-world driving simulator games & it blew my mind spending entire summer vacations playing them.
Sim City 2000 was another game I would play for hours at a time. I drove my parents crazy (they found it boring), but I played it for years and it never got old. Will Wright (creator of Sim City/Sims) & team are great folks, I cannot wait to see what the next fancy new thing is they are working on now! 😉😉😉

Touching upon themes of trauma, grief, guilt and punishment, and blending them with metaphor and the horror element in a way not many games had done before. Quello che in realtà io (che non sono per niente un video giocatore) non considero neanche un gioco, ma una vera e propria vita parallela online. Ci ho vissuto per anni dentro a cavallo del nuovo millennio (ricordo una bolletta telefonica epica di 1.200.000 lire nel 1998 o 1999) e porto ancora dei ricordi indelebili come se li avessi vissuti in prima persona.
Ho ancora una virtual machine con Windows XP e tutto l'occorrente per accedervi (Razor, EasyUo, UoAutomap, client vari) che ogni tanto accendo per fare un giro. Ho giocato pochissimo sui server ufficiali, molto sugli emulatori. Ricordo ancora la nascita di Sampei su Moon, poi diventato Sampei di Yew guildmaster dei KEA ed il suo famoso shop "Archi & Balestre" su Universo, poi UoDreams... Poi un sacco di server internazionali... Tutt'ora se ascolto quelle musiche mi scende una lacrimuccia!

The only time I ever bought an issue of a partwork was a knitting magazine, because it was 99p and came with a free three-ring binder. Those were practically impossible to buy in the UK and I needed one to fit my copy of "Man to Man," the pre-GURPS combat book from Steve Jackson Games, which was punched to fit them. I would never have considered blowing £770 on a D&D tutorial series.

While I was on Warframe doing trades, I noticed at least 50% of the people after trades would say, "thanks, bro" :blobfox_nauseous:
Before, I just said my usual, "Thanks a bunch~ <3" bit and left, but after a while, I got kind of curious...what would happen if, every time I was addressed as "bro", I automatically addressed them back as "sis"? :zerotwo_learn:

Recently I found a copy of Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure, and I have been playing it a bit this evening.
It's a true nostalgia trip. A lot of gaming memories from my youth are thanks to my dad. My parents divorced when I was young and once every two weeks my sister and I would stay the weekend at my dad's, who at one point bought us a Mega Drive. 🙏
I never owned this game but we often had rental games and this one we rented quite a few times! ☺️
It's a great platformer! It borrows heavily from other games in the genre, but in a good way. There are many stages, and the difficulty ramps up quickly! I'm glad this game has a password system~ 😅
Some parts really need memorizing in order to get through. I don't have much patience so these kind of games are not something I can play all evening without losing my temper, but it's a very enjoyable title. The music is great as well~ 🎶
I played a lot of roleplaying games, primarily D&D when I was a kid, but got away from it for decades. Lately, I've been surprised by how relaxing and compelling I find watching actors play on channels like Critical Role and Dimension 20. I play #games, specifically #boardgames, but I'm open to others (both digi/analog). I've done a lot of #boardgame playtesting in the past (including, but not limited to; Root and John Company from Cole Wehrle, and Gandhi: Decolonization of British India from Bruce Mansfield) and I still do. Although anymore, I usually limit that to really digging into one title for a few seasons to see it through the entire process over playing just one or two iterations of something at an Unpub event or short sprints.
I find it interesting why people like the games (or things in general) that they do. I'm quite a curious critter in that regard and likewise I love stuff like the Richmond Forum or TEDTalks that make me think (and I read the London Review of Books somewhat regularly).
As such, I find #boardgamedesign to be fascinating from a #systemdesign perspective. Some of that is because I've built a long career in the IT system design and implementation space. In 2023, my spouse challenged me to finally get off my duff and design something to play with friends. That's a... "work in progress" at the moment, but I'm happy to discuss design challenges with folks.
For my #wargaming (and history) interests, I have nerded out on the #ColdWar and it's various dynamics/locations plus Japan until WW1. I usually play #wargames for a series of iterations and then trade/sell them unless they hold steam with my group or are otherwise special. Shelf space is at a premium and I think a game that doesn't get played because it's just sitting there could go to a home that will enjoy it more. As such, I use a modified Jones Theory for keeping games, and I churn through a bunch every year.
I do paint minis, mostly in the winter months because my setup isn't conducive currently for summer painting. I prefer CMON's Arcadia Quest or other various SD-style figures for that purpose. I am the proud owner of assembled terrain (!!!) and I don't think has ever seen the light of day...
Otherwise, I enjoy most forms of music and in a prior life did on-location audio recording and some spare time as a roadie for smaller bands. Modern country and 50s rock are two areas that I shy away from though.
Covid caused me to take an interest in spectator sports, specifically stuff that is off the beaten path. I now somewhat consistently watch Cricket (T20 and some ODI), Cycling, and to a lesser degree Rugby 7s. In general, I'm more likely to watch women's iterations of sports when possible (I find the dynamics of play are more interesting than the men's side). We've been a season ticket holder for the local soccer team since before they last won a championship (2009).

#Tradle is 1 of my favorite one-a-day web #games. Guess the country based on its major exports.
Playing most days has helped me improve in #geography & #economics. I've gotten a rough sense of what kinds of countries have yearly exports measured in the millions, billions, or trillions of USD. And sometimes I guess quickly and feel awesome because I remember, e.g., key ag sectors in Malaysia from plot points in a @zencho novel.
