Hey guys, thanks so much for listening to the testimony that it's taken a long time to be able to put out. It's been tough to talk about and revisit for me, but I'm doing so to show how Jesus can take someone that was living the lowest of the low lifestyle and come into their life and COMPLETELY change them from the inside out.
Jesus delivered me from a #lifestyle of complete #disregard for #myself and $others.
For a few years, I was deeply entrenched in sex addiction (what I think is better referred to as #VALIDATION addiction), which eventually lead to #prostitution on a '#Sugar_dating' website. I was making a living off of this for a while, and it enabled me to get everything I thought I wanted. Even though I finally had everything 'perfect' in my life, I was #overwhelmed by #emptiness.
By the time I realized my lifestyle was draining me #spiritually and giving me intense #depression, I didn't even know how or have the desire to stop it. #God put somebody in my life at just the right time to #share the #truth with me and pull me out of my lifestyle. Jesus has radically changed my life..
I will never forget what He has done for me, and now, there is no turning back, and I am eternally grateful that I am a new creation in Christ.
I don't feel like my appearance/body takes precedence over my spirit anymore. It is quite the opposite now, PRAISE God!!!

I read something in a Dutch Christian newspaper today that really makes me angry. The newspaper revealed that many people are struggling with #mental problems after being involved with a #Christian organization called Heart Cry. The organization emphasizes a life without sin and claims that secular psychology should be rejected because it doesn't lead to #God. They believe that the #Bible should have authority over all areas of life, including the realm of the psyche. 1/2

A few days ago, my home city was under a tornado warning. I was talking to someone during the incident, and they said, "you shouldn't be afraid of tornadoes; you should be afraid of God." When I hear someone say the phrase, "you shouldn't be afraid of X; you should be afraid of #God," where X is a natural disaster or something else that is dangerous, I think that the #religion they follow is clouding their minds and their sense of #rationality.
Opinion: If it’s not about #love, it’s not about #God. God is love and God loves people who are #trans.
Treating people with #kindness encourages #humanconnection, the #antidote to a great many #socialills.

Even if you believe #God heals, don't you think it's more likely that it would use humans as a tool to act here on earth? When was the last time it parted the clouds and physically intervened in human affairs? Why would we even have doctors and medicine if prayer was all we ever needed? Either take your kids to the doctor when they're sick, or don't have any in the first place.

It’s 2023 and I’m astonished that so many intelligent religious people still make the bogus argument “without a #god there is no #morality” (or priorities, or goals).
Just this last week, on the #Triggernometry #podcast:
“Even the things you believe in, only make sense if there’s a God. The only leap of faith I ever took was to say: ‘it’s better to give a beggar bread than it is to torture a child to death’. You can’t make that case without God. That case, once you believe that, you believe in God.”
“As Western civilization becomes increasingly individualistic and anti-religious, […] that bleeds over into a secular world that was living off sort of the fumes of a religious society. This misuse of religious language to avoid looking honestly at what's at the root of these mass shootings, which are more or less unique to the US, is obscene.
What's at the root: too many damned guns. Assault rifles designed for military use casually available to civilians. Republican blocking of any attempt to solve the problem. The NRA's death hold on the nation.
According to Texas representative Keith Self, whose district includes Allen, where a mass shooting just took place, people who say thoughts and prayers aren't enough when another mass shooting takes place just don't believe in God and that God controls everything.
So many questions: If God is "absolutely in control" of everything as Rep. Self maintains, then God is somehow ultimately responsible when a mass shooting occurs.

This is a really interesting presentation from @timnitGebru criticizing the ideological aspects of the "artificial general intelligence" (AGI) movement. First, I think this information can help us immunize ourselves against the marketing hype from companies and researchers claiming that their software 'solves everything'. But more generally, it raises awareness of the AGI movement as a social movement, and hints at how it could take us to some very dark places if we let it. Dr. Gebru pointed at both the authoritarian and eschatological aspects of the movement; what she did not mention is that this is the basic recipe for a totalitarian movement. To be clear, she did not claim that everyone developing 'machine learning' technologies subscribes to this ideology -- and in fact noted that the term machine learning was applied to distinguish that work from 'artificial intelligence'. Likewise, I want to point out that many of the ideas in the "TESCREAL bundle" (Transhumanism etc) are not inherently fanatical like the ideas that Dr. Gebru highlighted. But we do need to keep our eye on this AGI movement just like we would any other powerful movement with totalitarian tendencies.
