This was inspired by the Battle of Claw Island, for the prompt SACRIFICE.

Did you know that a feather and a fully armored charr will fall at the same speed? … at least in a vacuum. (For the prompt FEATHER.)

Spent a bit of time prepping two characters for lab farm in a couple weeks. Modified the pistol/pistol deadeye build to go fast and cooked up a very zoomy scepter/dagger weaver.

@ecksearoh seems like a bit of an odd choice to note #GuildWars2.

The game caters to the broader playerbase, devalues challenging content and PvP, and has just increased resources in complexity considerably.

If there is any "enshittification" (and I don't think there is in the way of other game companies) then it's by making things easier and catering less to niche communities which means the latter is needing to deal more often with bugs, things not working, and inattentive balance.

I thank Cory Doctorow for the term #enshittification it perfectly describes any late stage #MMO

I am a very old gamer, and I have seen several MMOs do this. Most have already passed on, but the two surviving examples are #GuildWars2 and #Destiny2.

Late stage MMO developers while preparing to move onto their next big product, do some interesting things while preparing to put their old game on maintenance. They ramp up the game's difficulty to cater to a niche audience that they are sure will not leave them.

They simplify the game by removing resources or currencies to streamline the economy and make things easier for the skeleton team who will handle maintenance.

They prioritize #PVP because their data wranglers tell them that those guys aren't going anywhere. And because the diehards also have significant crossover with the cash pigs and the whales they also dial up the paid offerings and micro transactions.

#Warframe seems to have avoided all this bullshit, because #Soulframe is a lateral move. Digital Extremes has their own bullshit with the lily white future setting where only five brown or black people seem to exist, but that rant is for another day.

@n8 I see no reason today why archive formats like music and video should use proprietary formats. Games unfortunately are a more complex issue and we're not at a stage where open source game engines can keep up with the technical evolution of proprietary hardware.

To be specific, I'm using #Steam #Proton to run #GuildWars2 on #Ubuntu.

However, it would be very interesting to see older games re-released with open and free licences.

The writing in Secrets of the Obscure is absolutely fantastic. First time I have felt invested in the world of Tyria from a story point of view since HoT.

Really loving how excellent the characters are and I can actually see myself completing the achievements for this expansion for lore and more detail, unlike PoF and EoD.

Hey all! I'm Pixel, I'm #queer and a #furry in name only (diet furry, really) I play #GuildWars2, #hearthstone, #valorant #omegastrikers, #pokemon and #fightinggames (all competitively, sorry LMAO) and enjoy #GenshinImpact and #indiegames as well, and I'm a bit of a #nier and #nierautomata fiend :)

On top of that I enjoy #anime, #computers and #technology in general, and am looking to get more into #gamedev (I'm a former community manager, wanna try to get back into gamedev in a more serious capacity as a dev, hopefully)

In a game where you can in 95 % of the cases explore every single dialog branch and be a total completionist about the story, having a branching quest where you’re reminiscing about the past and paying respects to characters who have passed away, making the player _choose_ two out of four characters to revisit, forcing you to basically disrespect the other two of them, just feels wrong and annoys me.
