I'm looking for a company / individual that can repair an RTX3080Ti that was the victim of a waterloop springing a leak.
The card has two charred / missing pins on the cardedge, but LOOKS otherwise okay.
A company in Czechia was NOT able to fix it, but I honestly think it was just beyond their capabilities.

Cet aprem, j'ai décidé de démonter Lazarus pour une nouvelle opération à cœur ouvert. L'air flow du Corsair 5000 D est super, mais le Dark Rock Pro 4 avec un 5900X, ça va mais ça souffle pas mal. Et en jeu sans undervolt (pas refait depuis le 4e changement de carte mère de septembre), c'était du 74°c et du bruit, même avec de la bonne Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut.
Donc j'ai claqué mon AiO 360 et un truc dont on parle encore assez peu, leur Kryosheet.

Outside of single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi, small form-factor desktop PCs aren’t super common — a market gap gaming hardware company Ayaneo hopes to fill. They’ve unveiled the Ayaneo Retro Mini PC AM01, an AMD-powered desktop computer housed inside a 5-inch box designed to look as much like a beige Macintosh from the 1980s as it can, without being sued by Apple. I have a Dell laptop, running Ubuntu 22.04, with the following buttons around the trackpad. The trackpad works, and the three above it work (left, middle and right click as you'd expect).
I want the ones BELOW the trackpad (4 and 5) to be left and right click. Currently for some reason the left one is mapped to middle-click. How can I remap it? The other one does nothing at all.
xinput doesn't even know those buttons exists, and tells me I'm running xinput against an Xwayland server.

having been employed by #Microsoft a few times, I get the feeling that their #biometric security features are poorly developed. they likely had some simple milestone of supporting a feature to compete with #Apple, but did not come close to the level of #hardware, #firmware, #driver, and #software integration, and intentionally built sub-par security.
Microsoft is not to be taken seriously in this hardware-based, device authentication space. i understand that they are severely limited by the fact that they write an OS for millions of different laptop types (unlike Apple), where their focus is probably with driver compatibility, dependent on third-party drivers, which are notoriously insecure and bad. but then, they fail at employing their own sub-par security stack in their own first-party hardware.

A Lenovo 15.6", AMD 7 5700U, 16Gb RAM, 512Gb SSD, 42Wh for $998.
But I've got a decent discount with MS for a Surface Laptop 5, 13 5" 12 gen i5, 8Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD for $1,799.
To me, the Lenovo is a clear winner.

BIOS update went off without a hitch!
Except I had to disable the firmware trusted computing module and reenter my Bitlocker key because I just *had* to install a real TCM
I really like #Gigabyte's #Qflash feature. Makes BIOS updates a breeze!

Finally, Apple includes hardware ray-tracing in their desktops. This is the first time I feel some enthusiasm for Apple hardware again, since I switched from my late-2013 iMac with the last NVIDIA GPU to an NVIDIA-based Windows PC.

Question évolution de mon pc de bureau perso. Il commence à fatiguer et je ne sais pas si je peux le faire évoluer ou pas. Ça me ferait de devoir tout changer. Dans les 90s j'étais toujours entrain de bidouiller des PCs mais depuis 20 ans j'ai un peu décroché. En 2015 je me suis monté une tour après pas mal de portable (putain on alimente les CG/GPU maintenant :)).
Bref j'aurais besoin d'avis. Donc le repouet est bienvenu. Description de ma machine dans la suite ⤵️
