PROBLEM: My university’s private contract bookstore’s corporate database is supposed to feed book lists to the university schedule.
My book lists are rendering incompletely on university side. I complained it could be a problem for students if they only get their booklist from the schedule to purchase on their own.

Student evaluations have long been shown to be utter garbage indicators of anything other than satisfaction, which isn't highly correlated with any useful learning outcomes. In fact, several studies have found student evaluations to be NEGATIVELY correlated with actual content mastery. Moreover, student evaluations are full of biases (see study below), which makes me even more sure that any legislator wanting more weight put on them doesn't understand #HigherEducation

This weekend I realized the CSUs wanting to grant PhDs is more about enrollment and money than knowledge creation. And UC's opposition is also about money and enrollment. And that's basically #HigherEducation.
Last week, I was part of a 25% workforce reduction at my company. It happened to be on the same day Meta announced a 10,000 person layoff and today Amazon said they're letting 9,000 more people go, so I feel a bit like I'm joining the tsunami of the unemployed right now. My LinkedIn profile URL is in my bio, but in short my background is in technical communication and higher education (administration/lecturer). I'm in the #LosAngeles area for in-person jobs, and I am also open to remote positions. I have a very small network on here, so I thank you in advance if you would kindly boost this post. I'm hoping that quality leads from the good folks on Mastodon help me to surf the unemployment tsunami and get ahead in being hired. 🌊 🏄♀️

The bill OUTLAWS spending on #diversity, #equity & #inclusion programs, says a professor’s #tenure can come under review at any time & gives boards of trustees — typically appointed by the governor or Board of Governors (non-academics)— control of #faculty hiring & #curriculum review.
