"In a true paradigm shift, persevered timbers show that early man, and potentially older species than Homo sapiens, were building wooden structures 476,000 years ago.

Wikipedia lists the earliest carpentry assemblage ever found previously as a water well cover carved from oak boards from 5,600 BCE. The oldest wooden tool ever found was a carved spear from about 416,000 years ago.

These 5-foot-long logs had clear signs of woodworking with stone tools, with the end of one set atop another at a right angle. There are notches cut into the ends to allow them to fit into one another, a technique that makes them seem a little like Lincoln Logs.

Last Sunday I cancelled a folk dance event because I couldn't imagine to dance between walls at 34°C. When we meet at the museum we miss people who *are* lonely. It's done.

This is our #diy kitchen project for our small rental apartment finished. Or kind of, thinking I might make a curtain there still to cover the bins.

The backbone is a diy baking table I had from my #MicroBakery years that my dad and partner made for me. We built shelves on it, added a wall shelf and some led lights. Budget for the whole project was under 50€ and this is what we got.

It also houses our #recycling stuff, paper and cardboard. And our bokashi.

I like it, I like it very much.

20 years in the UK this month. It has been interesting, not all smooth sailing but hand on heart I can say the last ten years have been the best yet in my life.
I do not remember the wall in my first shared London flat being that eye-poppingly red, I am holding my first ever pound with a suitably dorky expression. Having been on numerous social platforms since the BBS’s of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, through USENET and various online forums, leaving Twitter was easy. But it pains me to see how hard it is for so many others to leave, and I wonder why that is.

Once you put an #account into a list or lists, you can hide their posts from your #home feed, so you can really curate lists into your own very bespoke set of topic-specific "Home Feeds" to indulge yourself when you wish, without having an overly cluttered "Home" Home feed as (as far as I know!) you can't put accounts into your lists without following them first.

And it shouldn't use server power up consolidating a vast home feed, and you can instead concentrate on finding new people to follow and list, to really get new content, without getting distracted by stuff you've already curated into lists to scroll at leisure.
