This is a very promising announcement from #Affinity (#Publisher can now add #AltText to images), but it's the last paragraph that's most exciting for #accessibility #a11y minded document publishers:

"The Tags Panel in Affinity Publisher 2.3 is just the start of a series of improvements we’re making to PDF accessibility. Upcoming updates will provide support for reading order, heading tags and other document structure tools that will further enhance your PDFs."

I've already moved from #Photoshop to #Photo and from #Illustrator to #Designer, and the lack of support for accessible output from Publisher is the major reason I still use #InDesign. It'll be nice to finally get to move further away from my dependence on #Adobe!

Now if we could just get Affinity to take on #Lightroom and #Acrobat as well....

The #PDF output from Goodnotes is hard to work with. #Apple Preview just spins trying to display it, and #Illustrator just gets blank pages.

#Acrobat can open it quickly and nicely (add this to the short list of things that Acrobat does well, and 🙏 for separate @adobe codebases).

My workflow 😜 to get around this:

Open PDF in Acrobat.
Export to Powerpoint.
Open pptx in Keynote
Export to PDF (fails in PPT).

PDF shrinks by ~75%, still partly editable but critically it displays well. 👍
