Now that I am fully organized to unload the last six months worth of extra keys, I'm getting antsy.
So, I thought I'd put up my retired keys list here with the following caveats.
- Max two requests per person.
- No brand new accounts.
- Please only request things you would redeem yourself or pass on to a friend or family member.
DISCLAIMER: These keys should all work. I can't promise that though.
Completed Untitled Goose Game, it's very good! Hitman could learn a few things

Spending far too long staring at a piece of #Inform7 #game source #code, and wondering why it's not compiling. Turned out simply to be an apostrophe ' where I needed a double quote ". This is bringing back memories from 30-ish years ago being a lab assistant, trying to help first year #computerScience undergraduates at #StAndrews battling to learn #S-algol, and running into the same #punctuation non-compilation issues! #Programming #GameDev #IndieGames #InteractiveFiction
It’s the first of December and this year is coming to an end. Hope it’s been going well for you all. There was some really exciting stuff this week.
Not indie game related, unless you count indie game soundtracks, but today is Bandcamp Friday so consider buying some music. Spotify really doesn’t pay anything and buying music (or at least use a streaming service that pays better royalties) is the only way they can really keep doing this for a living.
Going to the Store for Baby Formula at 6AM on Black Friday
Going to the Store for Baby Formula at 6AM on Black Friday is a good and very relatable Bitsy game for any parent.
The Lawnmower Man
In the early 90s it felt like the film adaptation of The Lawnmower Man had a video game on every single platform so it makes me happy that there is now one for PICO-8.
Annie May – Pixcrew
Rose has made a ton of great character creators and the newest one is worth your time too.
Markus Ritter – Ghosts of the Past
Markus Ritter – Ghosts of the Past is a FMV point-and-click adventure game described by the developers on the Steam page as “queer cheesy trash” and that is a 100% accurate description. Fortunately I am a goblin for FMV trash, especially ones inspired by Gabriel Knight 2, so this is absolutely for me. That said, it is EXTREMELY cheesy and might be too much for some people, so I would maybe recommend playing the free prequel game first to see if it’s your thing.
Madvent Calendar 4 – End of the Line
Since it’s December, we also have a new Madvent calendar from the HauntedPS1 community. Every year they release a free anthology of small horror games with a Playstation 1 aesthetic, with a new one unlocked each day. They’re really nice collections and it’s impressive that they manage to put together one of these every year and for free.
One year ago today, Daikon and I launched the インディー通信 Indie Tsushin website! I thought it would be nice to look back on some of the cool things that we got to do in the year since!
I attended the #Canberra Museum and Games tonight and had a look at a ton of local, indie games - both video, board and card.
I managed to play Get Down II, Salvage, Mark's Magnificent Marble Maze, CheesePunk!
We spoke to some of the developers behind the games, (one of whom was a former #CubScout with me), and had a great time.
Though space was tight, it was a well run event and I hope they got a lot of exposure.

Hey it's #BlackFriday! Why not buy SkateBIRD, the award winning game about a skateboarding bird? Or one of our many other entertainments?!
Are they on sale? Well, no, not exactly, but I SWEAR they were $199.99 yesterday and so the current price of $19.99 represents a truly stunning 90% off!
(ok fine it is actually 50% off right now)

this is some wonderful writing and digital archeology to find the very first Flash game. it’s quite a dive down memory lane and kind of highlights what was wonderful about this lost internet era. definitely recommended reading!

It’s Itch.io’s Creators Day, where they aren’t taking a cut from sales today. I’ve put all my paid games in a little bundle you can pick up if you want some solo TTRPGs.

Goose has made a very good demake for the Game Boy of a game they previously made a decade before for a game jam.

SO I COMPLETELY FAILED TO THREAD THE REST OF THE THREAD WITH THIS POST
HERE"S THE REST OF IT
Welcome to "Aura's IGF Games I Want To Talk About" thread, 2024 edition.
For those who don't know me, I'm Aura - I've been an artist in indie gamedev for over 10 years and I've been an Independent Games Festival judge for almost as long.
Each year, I like to post a thread highlighting 10 or so games from the competition that I think are interesting, overlooked, or otherwise worth talking about; that's this thread!
TITANCLIMB by Sand Vehicle: I've talked about this game before but honestly I cannot talk about it enough. What if Shadow of the Colossus was not about defeating these huge colossi, but instead just respectfully climbing them the way you would a mountain. What if you and the colossi just hung out and enjoyed nature together. Wouldn't that be nice. That's basically what this demo was like
RAYGING BLUE A by sectionS: The legendary doujin #STG series is back!! Play as one of three girls blasting through ships, and use each girls' unique and powerful AWAKENING ability to do huge bursts of damage. Coming to Steam (maybe)
Tell me your thoughts! by ミハナダの空: #VisualNovel that is also kind of a 1-on-1 book club. Read excerpts from classic books, then discuss them with your friend Shiina and grow your relationship. Really cute and interesting idea, though it's only in Japanese (for now anyway). Demo available on booth, full version currently in development
candyhouse by pocgamez: Simple and sweet #STG where everything is candy: your bullets, enemy attacks, the bosses, everything. The character animations and designs are fun and look great. Available for purchase on booth
TetsunoEbi: Top-view tank (shaped like a shrimp?) #STG where you both take cover from and can also destroy blocks in the environment. tbh it's not much to look at, but it is surprisingly fun. There's lots of levels and they're all short and satisfying, and the boss fights are quite challenging
USAGI STAR by 白兎電子工房: Horizontal #STG where you play a rabbit collecting colorful space carrots! Some fun banter between the rabbit characters as you battle your way through waves of enemies. It's cute, I liked it! Demo available from developer's Twitter acct (sorry for birdsite link)
Dramatic Road: the origin of wind by Alaska Ohdanbu: #SRPG in the vein of old school Fire Emblem combined with the drama and politics of high school motorcycle gangs. Relive the burning passion of youth!! Out now on Steam in early access
GIGA FALL and DEPTH: ORIGIN by 四季 Game Studio: The former is a game where you protect the earth from meteors using an ENORMOUS laser (playable in browser on itch and on mobile) that oscillates back and forth between shots. The latter is releasing in 2024 and is a kind of rhythm shooting game (think Necrodancer where everything moves to the beat, including your attacks)
Zelle by Fuming: Adventure #RPG set in an occult world. Battle demons, explore the creepy world, and find your way home. I love the jaggy and spooky artwork so dang much
The Revenge of Tungsten by 魔女の脳: Interesting and atmospheric bullet hell where enemy bullets turn invisible when you are shooting. The key is to observe and remember enemy patterns, then weave around them to take down enemies. Environments and story is also pretty interesting
Disc Creatures World by Picorinne Soft: We got to play a short and sweet demo of this! Everything you loved from the original creature-catching game with gorgeous new #PixelArt, new battle mechanics, a revamped UI, and just lots of new stuff! Currently in development, coming to Steam hopefully soonish. In the meantime, play original Disc Creatures!
(also check out our interview with Satto-san!!)
Laby and the Mysterious Planet by LabyLab: 8-player trivia quiz battle royale! Will you be the last one standing? Character and artwork look super cute, really hope it gets an English localization eventually. Coming to mobile and Steam in 2024 with crossplay.
SOULPTOR by FROGEEKS: Deck-building curling game?! Create barricades around the target so your enemy can't score, and break through your enemy's walls using special units! Super simple but also very fun. Game in development and will release on PC
対戦クロスワード (Crossword Battle) by Motteke: 2-player competitive crossword game where you make three-character words that overlap in a grid, vertically or horizontally (like crosswords). App is currently in development but we got this paper prototype to take home, haha
By same dev who made タシテケス (Add and Delete), a super fun TsumTsum like of adding blocks of numbers up to 10
LOOP LOOP ROOM by desunoya: #PuzzlePlatformer with tons of neat tricks like flipping the screen around, coordinating with your clone, and jumping through timed wormholes. It's out on Steam now!
Non Eternals by asiram works: Active time #RPG where you manage cooldowns on your party's spells to take down super round and super cute enemies. It's hard for me to want to attack these enemies, ngl. Coming to iOS and Android in 2025
音札 (Otofuda, sound cards): Competitive #RhythmGame where you don't just tap the buttons at the right time, but also swipe your hand over a sensor to grab at hanafuda cards and "pick" them to add to your hand. Your final score combines both your rhythmic accuracy as well as the point value of your cards! It sounds like a lot because OH BOY it is. Fun tho!!
