@RTP

Oh! And another problem with this idea...

Say you get yourself off any and all cloud based anything's that you have gotten yourself on.

PS. That means ALL your #IoT "smart" shit

You're all good, right?

WRONG!!!

You are on the cloud without your choice, with ZERO ability to opt out.

• all 3 credit reporting agencies
• your medical records
• third party apps you are forced to use like parking apps or keyless entry for your apartment

Etc.

Using an #ipv6 only mobile #iot network and want to connect to #azure #iothub? Not a problem if you have a carrier like #telstra (Australia) that supports #nat64, as in my recent blog article using the #nordic #thingy91 https://purple.telstra.com/blog/device-authentication-with-nordic-thingy-91-and-azure-iot-hub

@dangillmor which is why the old, centralized thinking doesn’t work. TeleInterActive #Microgrids that share information and energy as sensor analytics ecosystems #SensAE responding to changes in renewable generation, storage and consumption through #IoT concepts and causal #DigitalTwins are required for solar, photovoltaic, wind, tidal and geothermal heat pumps, at every building, over every parking lot and along every roadway and railway #sustainability

Wait, @amazon built a mesh network out of Echos and Ring doorbells? And now developers can tap into it?

Imma be honest, I find that more than a little creepy. Check out my breakdown @theregister #mesh #networking #smarthome #IoT

I did not realise amazon devices form a mesh network that utilises your broadband connection to communicate to amazon servers https://www.theregister.com/2023/03/28/amazon_sidewalk_mesh_network/ and now they're opening it up to third parties.
This seems like it's quite open to abuse. I really hope there's a way to opt out

@dx@ridetrans.it I'd like "pay or die", where a company has to pay $0.01 per month or their code is released as open source.
Then, it would trigger if the company is liquidated and stops paying the bills. Ideal for all of those #IoT devices which become useless when the company dies.

The first test at moderate temperatures of -13°C of the solar powered Li-Ion Capacitor charger (rev 2) from Jasper Sikken @jrsikken achieved good results. The last winters we had several days with less than -30°C but this winter has been much warmer so far. The next step is to build a LoRaWan sensor and test it year-round. We have 2 month without direct sun, embedded in 2 month mostly cloud covered. If it works here it will work everywhere!
