Today I listened to #Chromatica by #LadyGaga for the second time and, honestly, it falls in the same category for me as #ARTPOP in that it‘s considered to be a flop, when it has some really solid songs, especially the instrumental title tracks I-III. It wouldn’t surprise if #Chromatica even inspired #Renaissance by #Beyonce which is one of my favorite albums of 2022.

We didn’t know what form this vacation would take (Grand Canyon? Hoover Dam? Road trip?) but ultimately it turned into a set of concerts and a big band performance by Lady Gaga was the feather in the cap of our first night.
It happened to be the last night of Lady Gaga’s Jazz & Piano residency at the Park MGM, but she said she’d be back and I believe her—Vegas suits her.
She put on a heckuva show, mixing jazz standards and riffing on her pop songs with simple staging, more than a few costume changes and lots of banter with the band and audience.
Toward the end of the night she dedicated Fly Me to the Moon to Tony Bennett, setting her microphone on the piano mid-song and sang a cappella the to theater of 5000. When folks stopping hooting “wooooooooooo!” her voice came through, small and powerful (we were up in the balcony).
