Introducing a new #Python package called mapwidget - creating interactive 3D maps in a Jupyter environment using popular JavaScript libraries with bidirectional communication, such as #CesiumJS, #Mapbox, #MapLibre, #Leaflet, and #OpenLayers

#GPS update, I've now made a closed website for the family where they can see us in real-time.
Made a simple script with #PHP and #Python to get the latest report from the #SQL and create a nice #HTML with #Leaflet that shows our exact coordinates. And since the GPS checks in every minute, it should always be an up-to-date location! =D

Big changes are coming for #leaflet users!
Leaflet is a popular open-source #javascript library for creative interactive maps that has been broadly adopted into many other languages including #python #rstats, and #shiny. There have been consistent improvements over the years including support for multi-line labels, improved handling of mouse events, and better compatibility with other libraries. The leaflet community has continued to grow and contribute to quality content

GitHub changed its awsome rendering of #geojson from #leaflet & #openstreetmaps to Microsoft Azure Maps and now nothings works anymore due to CORS and CSP. Not even the feedback button ... not even in Edge 🙄
Or is this just me?

Vector Tiles with MapLibre GL in React #Leaflet
https://docs.stadiamaps.com/tutorials/vector-tiles-with-react-leaflet/
👾🗺️ Vector map tiles give you the flexibility to localize place labels or customize colors to fit your brand. This week we’ll show you how to use them with React, @leaflet, and MapLibre GL JS to give our arcade map a bit more character.
Fun things I get to make for work: a map of Japan showing the locations of video arcades. Wanna see how you can make one too? Sure you do!

Our latest developer tutorial is hot off the press! This week we’ll harness React Leaflet to build an interactive map with hundreds of markers, using only a few lines of code. What could we possibly be mapping 🤔🕹️🗾
I finally updated the first article on web maps with Django and SpatiaLite (SQLite) that I wrote in 2020. I tested the guide with Python 3.11, Django 4.1 and Ubuntu 22.10 and made some small improvements. ✨
I hope you find it interesting. 🤞
Any feedback is welcome. ✅
Happy reading. 👍

Just wondering if anyone has a worked example of using #osmdata with #leaflet in #rstats?
For example, I would like to superimpose a polygon representing the boundary of an area and add footpaths as an optional overlay.
One for those doing the #30DayMapChallenge
In addition: can you use roads to split an existing polygon into two parts? Example: using admin boundaries for 3 sides, but a motorway for the 4th side of a polygon? Or can you combine roads together to make boundaries of a polygon?
I've been struggling lately to render with #rstats #leaflet the #italian #inspire land and building register using their #wms service
As always, I thought it was just a matter of C&Ping the entry point and the layers' names,
but instead I soon realized that the CRS used EPSG:6706 is not included in the leaflet wms preconfigured set
I've defined the crs as new and feed it to leaflet but to no avail.
I reckon it could be a simple coords mismatch but I've not been able to figure out exactly
Are there any Welsh language #Openstreetmap map tile servers?
Am currently using Stadiamaps to support a simple Leaflet based web map.
But I need a version of the tiles with Welsh labels (or failing that some unlabelled tiles).
And not just for Wales, ideally covering England and Scotland tool.
Any suggestions?

if you have lots of points and/or polygons to add to a #leaflet map using #rstats you should have a look at #leafgl
The #benchmark refers to a grid of 0.05 degrees for a total of 23,360 points and polygons covering the whole of Italy. Notice that this is not a big number as #leafgl can handle a much higher numbers of objects!
Besides, if I knew I could have post the image the other day for the #30DayMapChallenge #badmap with the title 'epiphany sock' 😆

Hi all, I have made my research documentation software 'Orson' (Open Research Notebook) available for beta testing.
I would really appreciate any feedback from users. If there's positive interest I may publicise it more actively in the new year.
It uses markdown editing, but allows for custom representations and interactions with text, images and data.
If you're not a researcher you might also find it useful for note-taking or as a commonplace book.

For some time now, I have been working on a web mapping game where users are asked to locate where certain historical events took place. It's called 'Where in the World...'
Here is the link https://www.whereintheworldgame.com
It's built using #leaflet and #vuejs.
Feedback is welcome.
I also might post a fun weekly poll asking about a historical event and see if you can guess where the event took place.
Thank you!

So my data science course project this week required me to create a map. That's it, create a map. However, implied was the use of some ... creativity :)
After some thinking, I hit on the idea of scraping Wikipedia and mapping the locations of the Mountain Association Bothies. I'm reasonably pleased with the results, for once, so I'm going to inflict it on you all as well :)
