So new instance new #introduction I guess. So I migrated because a few reasons. One being is that the fediverse is deeply antisemitic and I feel more comfortable being in an explicitly Jewish instance as gotosocial improves to a point where I can comfortably use it as my main. If things like #lemmy and #mastodon can't really work together properly,

what's the point of #federating between them?

I'm not even just talking about the awkward shoehorning of lemmy posts into mastodon #boosts, but it's whole features like #polls and comment #images just not working at all.

There isn't any value to federating between services that don't work together. If anything, it's needless overhead on instances.

@tomhazledine you can also just follow #Lemmy communities from Mastodon, you just have to paste their name into your Mastodon search bar in the format of @stauf_mansion (that is @ stauf_mansion@lemmy.mods4ever.com using an @ sign instead of the ! that Lemmy normally uses, Mastodon was shortening the display on it)

I never had accounts on Reddit or HN but often read content on there. I found this HN alternative during one of the dust ups. While like other fediverse alternatives to mainstream social media it has less content it is still more than enough for me. Poked deeper at the specs. #lemmy isn’t ActivityPub compliant because it will process replies (from kbin) that are not valid in JSON-LD sense.

#lemmy: has a reasonably well-formed JsonLD schema, but ignores JsonLD semantics when parsing and does manual heuristics.
#kbin: what's a schema? just names the fields same as lemmy and ignores JsonLD as a concept.

took lemmy out of my profile...
because:

It errored again so there's no way with current mod tools to try and purge extra data and the way "removed" communities work still downloads all their posts so admins can see them.

The software just wasn't mature enough for not being able to throw hardware at the problem which I can't actually do.

Maybe I'll revisit it one day, but sad, I was going to make an eventual going down post soon but I guess the server beat me too the punch. ;-;

So, #FireFish homies, I have a question. Are you able to access #Kbin, #Lemmy, and other non-Mastodon #fediverse links by pasting them in the search? It rarely works for me, and using one account for everything is something I miss from the smaller Mastodon server I was on before.

I'm wondering if it's just something about my instance or if FireFish just struggles with this kind of federation to begin with. Thank you in advance for any help, I really love the positive energy around here.

I use #NoScript to block all scripts on unknown pages. This gets really frustrating when I follow links to new #Mastodon or #Lemmy instances, which wont render even a single post without JS. I cant be the only one with this problem?

Wouldn't it be great to have something along #Decentraleyes extension to locally provide all the standard Fedi software scripts? Faster load times, less unnecessary transfer, more security for the paranoid part of #Fediverse would make everyone happy...
