Home built in 1855 by William "Lucky Bill" Thorington in Genoa, Nevada. It turned out that the gambler, businessman, and polygamist didn't live up to his sobriquet of "Lucky Bill" when he became the first man hanged in Nevada on June 18, 1858. Back in 2015, I was driving by the Lodi Airport (California) when I saw this beauty! What an iconic airplane the DC-3 was. I'd love to get a ride in one someday. My Dad worked for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica where he helped build these planes back in the day. He also converted many into C-47s during the war. Love the original Douglas "Around-the-World" logo on the side! Oh the stories...

A brown colored sandstone exposure with a petroglyph depicting what appears to be a horse's neck and head. In front of the possible horse's nose is a smaller four-legged creature with long ears or horns. (Note: I only provide the foregoing description for people with screen readers. I tend to loath any attempt to describe ancient rock art. We have no clue what the artist's intent was, as none of us are of the culture that created the rock art. That culture has long since vanished. Modern Puebloans and/or Navajos retain elements of cliff-dweller culture, but they have changed significantly from the waves of various cultures who populated the canyons of the Four Corners area in the US long before contact with Europeans. Heck, I don't even like referring to petroglyphs and pictographs as art and the creators as artists.)

Anson Stokes, mine developer, railroader, & banker built Stokes Castle in Austin, Nevada, in 1896. "The family occupied the Castle for a short time. [They] traveled west in June 1897 with friends & spent about a month in the castle. They spent a few more days in October 1897. They returned in the summer of 1898, but they sold their mine, the milling equipment, & the castle, & never returned to the town." (Wikipedia)

This is (was) a 1926 Ford Model T Roadster pickup truck. One of the more amazing hot rods I've ever seen! About the only original part of this truck is the body. Here's the amazing part: The engine is a supercharged 427 SOHC mounted at 40 degrees--so it would fit under the hood! Went for a hike up to Gray Lake (~2743m / 9000ft) in the Sierra above Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, yesterday. We found only a couple of these flowers. Can anyone identify this species? Abandon gas station and convenience store. There's two gas pumps on the island. The building is painted brown and white. The paint is peeling extensively. Half ot the sign is missing. What can be read is "AS" "ELI" & "COFFEE". There's also an ice machine.
