@HelenER The lady (from Capita maybe, I don't recall) who did my phone assessment was lovely and understanding. The letter from the DWP on the other hand was horrible - far nastier than it needed to be in denying my claim. It's a degrading process. They're supposed to assess on your worst day (which as anyone with #MS will know is variable), but they clearly don't and they're looking to decline as many claims as they can.

DOSBox has long provided the Ctrl+F5 hotkey to capture the emulated video card’s image prior to rendering.
DOSBox Staging 0.80.1 pairs this with Alt+F5 (Option+F5 on macOS) to capture the as-seen (post-rendered) image.
This is very useful to capture the effect of a shader or the effect of the automatic aspect ratio correction.
Be sure to look at the screenshots in full size to see the effects of the shaders properly!

Today: Ability to use local configs via Finder on macOS
A new --working-dir <path> command line parameter has been introduced to make it possible to launch DOSBox Staging using local configs from the Finder on macOS. Previously, you had to use DOSBox from the command line to achieve this.
How to use:
Simply copy the included Start DOSBox Staging.command to any folder that contains a local dosbox.conf and then open it (Start DOSBox Staging.command) in Finder.
DOSBox Staging will act as if started from that folder and will pick up the local config.

Incredible advances in vaccine research are happening. We could see "inverse-vaccines" that tell the body to *stop* attacking healthy cells, as it does with Type 1 Diabetes, MS and Crohn’s. I hope they are successful in their testing. When I was a child, my babysitter had and eventually passed away from MS. A terrible disease that gradually robs you of your ability to live.

The DOSBox window will scale nicely along other programs, and retain correct dimensions when moving between monitors with different scaling factors set.

javispedro’s VBMOUSE.DRV mouse driver for Windows 3.1x is fully supported and no longer requires the use of the separate DOS driver, except when booting from a disk image.
The driver also resolves compatibility issues with seamless mouse integration and adds mouse wheel support.

I often live on takeaway, which is also expensive but gives more options, a few places know me and make an effort to accommodate me. Including bringing food inside.

I know what it's like to live with #chronicillness , to not have the energy to regularly cook, to often live on takeaway (takeout), and to do it on a below-poverty-line #disability pension. How to do it with dietary restrictions, I have know idea.
I don't know how to do it with #MS either, and it's scary to think about that given I fit the MS prodrome and have probably increased my risk of having an demyelination event in the future coupled with a greater likelihood of disabling symptoms.

@0xdaeda1a I wish I could find where I saw this, but - the analogy that really made me realize what we're dealing with in #LongCOVID was that for many people in the 1940s-50s, polio was an asymptomatic illness! And what we think of as "polio" today - the paralysis, the post-polio syndrome of fatigue and pain and weakness - is really "Long Polio". 🤯
My mom has had #MS for over 30 years now. I've seen firsthand what a chronic degenerative post-viral illness looks like. We are fully vaccinated / boosted - and yet still isolating, masking, testing, and generally taking similar #COVID19 precautions as we did in 2020 (plus Enovid and CO2 monitoring, two tools we didn't have at that point). Despite the inconvenience, the logistical challenges, the missed opportunities... because I'd rather be inconvenienced now than be still dealing with it 30 years from now. And I hate that this is the tradeoff we have to make.

I'm not sure folks realise how expensive it is not to be able to cook due to disability. Yes there's ready meals you can buy but they're both relatively expensive, don't deal with dietary restrictions well, and are very small servings.
I often live on takeaway, which is also expensive but gives me many more options and I have a few places that know me and make a genuine effort to accommodate me. Including actually entering my house so I don't need to struggle to retrieve bulk boxes.
I wish I could get genuine government support for this, but lol, no.

I'm not sure folks realise how expensive it is not to be able to cook due to disability. Yes there's ready meals you can buy but they're both relatively expensive, don't deal with dietary restrictions well, and are very small servings.
I often live on takeaway, which is also expensive but gives me many more options and I have a few places that know me and make a genuine effort to accommodate me. Including actually entering my house so I don't need to struggle to retrieve bulk boxes.

I spent nearly all day after my doctor appointment sleeping. I broke down after the news settled in and just shut everything away for a bit.
I am going to have to start the new patient process with another neurologist, this time a specialist in MS, because that’s the lead that they have right now. I thought we eliminated it as a possibility, but I was wrong. And so, anxiety flooded in and made everything worse.
Times like these I seriously don’t know how to continue to live my life like this, and having no answers just makes it even harder.

Marking 16 years of D-Day, Diagnosis Day.
The absolute fucking tragedy of being young & told you’ve an incurable, progressive brain disease; it is never not awful.
During the years of being newly diagnosed, connecting with others kept me going.
They saw me, shared my pain while we comforted one another as we all raged in a delightedly joyful way at the vagaries of life.
Life & living have never been felt so deeply than with those who know their mortality.
I’m not ‘average’ in terms of health; I’m 68, have had Multiple Sclerosis over 40 years, have Hashimoto’s disease, kidney problems, and a rare bleeding disorder. I was always in a group at higher risk from COVID.
Please, when you’re out in public, if you’re feeling the least bit ‘off’, wear a mask. For people like me, for people like my son who is my caregiver & is somehow blaming himself for getting exposed at work. . .
Masks aren’t a 100% solution but they do make a huge difference for so many of us.
Please, wear a mask.

Bottom line: I apparently have a reactivating of EBV (Epstein Barr virus) or CMV (Cytomegalovirus; or both, it happened after the first time I had COVID) which caused a lot of inflammation, EVERYWHERE but ultimately led to congestive heart failure.
PERMANENT Congestive heart failure. (Still waiting for test results on any damage to my kidneys)
I’m extremely fortunate it was caught in its early stages, EXTREMELY FORTUNATE.

So, ended up in the hospital early Monday morning:
I had Covid (again, despite vax & booster) in February, but it kept seeming to recur every two weeks with a vengeance.
Couldn’t seem to draw in any air despite large doses of antihistamines (which had worked up til then).
So off to the ER & then admission to hospital.

I’m so fucking angry. For the first time since diagnosis I have new lesions. Nearly eight years with nothing new on my #MRI and suddenly multiple new lesions. I’ve had a day to sit with it so I no longer feel like I’ve been punched in the gut. But even still. I’m so disappointed. I’d almost tricked myself into believing it was going away. Since my #MS diagnosis, I've always seemed to be a bit prone to respiratory infections and seem to take ages to shake them off. For obvious reasons, I didn't really get any during lockdown. Now, when I do catch a cold, it seems like a huge indignity. I'm all snotty at the moment, and as soon as I know that it's definitely just a cold and not covid, I mainly just feel outraged that this could be happening to me. How dare it! This one seems to be making a beeline for my lungs too. Ugh.

It took getting a second MRI to rule out #MS, not cheap but glad I did it! The neurologist looked as genuinely surprised as I was. His face then turned to confusion, “what did you say you got this [syndrome] from?” “Long Covid.” He paused. He didn’t know there was a Post-Covid Clinic at Harborview so I’ll be his first patient there when I go next week. He recommended exercise & naturopathic remedies, but he didn’t seem to want to discuss getting on dementia drugs until my next visit in 2 months.
