From the department of "Tell me you removed #masks from #healthcare without telling me ...":

Shouldn't the SURGICAL area at a hospital be the LAST PLACE you would want or expect to get a #HospitalAquiredInfection or for any kind of outbreak to occur, let alone a #COVID one? Shouldn't it be the cleanest most sterile environment in the entire hospital? Shouldn't everyone be wearing #N95 masks?

Fully 10% of attendees at the CDC’s April conference got #Covid, but the real headline is that they’re now recommending high-quality #masks and testing for those who are attending the planned conference in June.

I’m sure it’s just an oversight that they haven’t yet advised the public similarly.

Heavy hit on my bank account today as I ordered my family's next batch of masks. We stick to 3M and their Aura range. Ultra reliable. Took 200 of FFP2 (=N95) Auras, at 1.50 pounds a piece. Plus my trusted supplier had a special deal for FFP3 (=N99) Auras, similar price, I took 2 boxes of 120. The FFP2s are for normal work circumstances, the FFP3s for crowded trains and similar extreme situations.

Should get us through the year.

The album cover for the remastered version of Vangelis' 1985 album "Mask" has been modified so the text "VANGELIS: MASK" is "WEAR MASK", and the text "REMASTERED BY VANGELIS" is "PUT ON FITTING MASK". The original album cover features a photograph of an artifact made of metal (possibly copper, and presumed to be a mask given the album title) with images of smaller faces pressed into the metal; in this image, well-fitting, effective masks have been superimposed upon the faces pressed into the metal mask.

This removes the 'us vs them' framing that we can get trapped in. Being able to talk about your needs with someone who understands is critical. Returning that favor begins a process of bargaining, informed by local environmental awareness & our relational roles in it.

Every tourist on my US bus who is speaking a continental European language is not wearing a mask. About 50-60% of us Boston-area locals are wearing masks. It has reminded me of the story of The Big Bad Wolf and 3 little pigs.
The straw house (no precautions) and the stick house (vax only) were convenient, easier, but not using known best practices so when the wolf came huffing and puffing they were blown down. Only the brick house built with best practices of mask, vax, and distance keeps the pigs alive and the wolf's huffing and puffing at bay.

How you can tell masks help you and everyone you know get COVID less frequently. Getting COVID less often means being more healthy now and in the future.

#CovidAwarenessWeek #BringBackMasks #NotMild #LongCovid #CovidIsntOver #COVID #masks #masking

Have you ever smelled someone’s bad breath? It’s because people exhale things in addition to air molecules, like things that smell, or can get you sick.

Have you ever seen your own breath in cold weather, but not seen as much of it when you put a scarf over your mouth and nose? That’s because things like scarves, and masks, can filter what we breathe in and out.

Masking helps protect you and everyone else by making us breathe in less of what other people breathe out. Wear them and you can be healthier.

Today was the funeral service for #JudithHeumann, the activist aptly named as the “mother of the #DisabilityRights movement.” Judith firmly believed that there was no aspect of American life that should be inaccessible to any person who wished to be a part of it.

The policy at the in-person service this morning was “#masks are optional, but encouraged.”

This cavalier and senseless policy at an event w/so many sick & disabled attendees is a dagger to the heart of Judith’s life’s work.

Q. What was the origin of the #pandemic?

A. The origin of the pandemic was:
- governments and medical professionals lying to the public about how Covid spread (#CovidIsAirborne by #aerosols) and refusing to tell anyone how to protect themselves (#N95 #N99 #FFP3 #P100 #P3 #elastomeric #respirator #masks, #HEPA filters, #CleanTheAir)
- and talking nonsense about handwashing instead

The origin of the virus is irrelevant.

HEPA filters and P100 respirator masks would have prevented the PANDEMIC.

Been wondering whether that Cochrane paper on masks means "masks are useless," like many many people keep saying? Wonder no longer: the answer is MASKS ARE EFFECTIVE AND YOU SHOULD WEAR ONE. Breakdown of what's wrong with the Cochrane paper in this video.

Thanks that is a really informative article. The distinction between personal protection and population wasn't at all obvious so it's great to see it drawn out.

I'm not surprised that NYT promotes disingenuous and incorrect information on this subject as it does on others.
