Hard to see, but in honour of Smudge being under the weather and to make us both feel a wee bit better, it’s a Smudge Shirt Friday! Yep, that’s the man himself on my shirt! Here’s the state of the state: Bear wants to play. Smudge wants to watch Bear play.

We had to lift Smudge off the bed and put him in front of the food, but he ate a good portion of “lil soup”. Since then he’s wandered around, and settled into a cave on Bear’s tower. He positioned himself where he could see the area Bear plays the most, so if you don’t mind, I have some mice to throw across the room and an audience of one, waiting for the show.

Baby Cat is a deep chocolate colored tan-ticked tabby with tiger-striped legs & a black ringed tail. She's lying on her right side on an off-white carpet, her left forepaw extended before her, beneath a piece of tan crinkly packing paper about as long as she is, excluding her tail.

Since he often wheels the short diagonal distance from one computer to the other, Baby will bring over a small piece of crinkly paper to lie atop of — or remain in contact with — so he is constantly reminded where she is & not run her over.

BC is confident her crinkling will communicate clearly where her human should neither step nor roll, but she's also ready to take immediate evasive action should it become necessary.

I thought long and hard, about shelves above my office desk. It was a good idea, can't you see?
I gained one square foot of desk space, for another cat to fill.

At one point, I had three cats, at the same time, on my desk.. but someone couldn't keep his paws off the others, and rippled the Space Time Continuum, NNM (No Names Mentioned), but you know it was Teddy.

This wood engraving depicts a male traveller, clothed in a long robe & carrying a staff, kneeling & putting his head, shoulders, & right arm through the star-studded edge of the firmament, where the earth meets the sky, in order to glimpse the celestial spheres. Behind him is a stylized representation of the terrestrial world, featuring a large tree & a human-faced sun.

The kneeling man is visibly overawed by the fantastic realm of circling clouds, suns & fires beyond the heavens. One of the pieces of cosmic machinery depicted is a traditional pictorial representations of the "wheel in the middle of a wheel" described in the visions of the Hebrew prophet Ezekiel. The caption that accompanies the engraving in Flammarion's book reads:

"A missionary of the Middle Ages tells that he had found the point where the sky and the Earth touch..."

Baby Cat—a chocolate colored tan-ticked tabby with a wide jet black stripe down the middle of her back—standing on her hind paws on a reclining chair.

BC has stuck her head underneath a shade which is being used to hold up the partially detached screen, enclosing the catio. The screen is held tight by 2 bungee chords, attached to eye-bolts. Behind the screen, the shadow outline of Baby's head & sharply alert ears can clearly be seen. Baby's tan back lozenge is directly below the screen.

The screen has quickly become Baby's bugbear, as it blocks her view of the neighborhoods main access road & the arroyo where the quails nest & play & above which the hawks & ravens fly. Usually, Baby climbs on her human's shoulders for an unimpeded view of all the action in the arroyo.

Baby Cat has tiger striped legs, which are tan on the underside, turning solid black halfway down. The wide jet black stripe on her back narrows to thin line running the length of BC's tan black ringed tail to its jet black tip.
