I thought I knew what this was a #painting of, until I looked at it closely.

Okay, I'll tell you what I think I see. It's night time - maybe just catching the end of dusk. There seems to be a house among trees on the edge of a cliff, with two mountaintops behind, and then the sky. I think there's a fullish moon. I'm not sure, because it's all quite dim-lit hazy dreamy. It could just as easily be a waterfall as a cliff-edge. Are they trees? Cos if that's a cat's face I can sort-of see in the gloom, maybe they're paws and claws? If that's a sky, it's blue above, fading down to yellow, and rusty red on the mountaintops. I don't know. I like it though. Embrace the ambiguity.

This is part 4 of my series of abstracted red flowers. The series include acrylic paintings of an abstract red rose, a red poppy, orange red tulips and this calla flowers. All of them are painted with acrylics on canvas in vibrant shades of red and orange.

All over Europe RIGHT NOW, dogs are waiting for their humans to get home so they can go out for a wee.

A little dog! With whirring legs! It's a sausage dog, black with a but of brown on the face, out for a walk with its person. Its little tail is wagging like mad, and its legs are almost a blur. Its ears are flopping around, and it looks happy. The pavement is just a blur, and of the human we see just the swishing bottom of a dress. All is movement.

#SybilAndrews (poss. after) (1898-1992) - 'Swans'

I bloody love #birds, me.

A simple and elegant depiction of four mute swans in flight, travelling from our right to our left. (They might just be taking off. Not sure. Sorry, that doesn't help, does it?) It's not quite a line drawing, but it's not far off. The only detail of plumage we see is slightly curved lines for the prime wing feathers, with green shading where the underwing is in shadow, and yellow where not. Two of the birds are on the downflap, the other two on the upflap. (These are technical terms that I absolutely did not just make up.) The birds' feet are little more than blocks of black, and their heads are simply drawn, in dignified pose, with a tinge of yellow on the beak. There is no background detail - just the magnificent swans.

Look, yes, it's a weekday morning. But it's #Thursday, and Thursday is basically the Friday of Friday, and Friday is the start of the weekend, so the weekend starts now. FACT.

A view along a light sand beach, with the sea just encroaching to our left. A woman in an overcoat is in the middle distance, her dog running loose a little further on. (I hope it's not nesting season.) On th the right are some cream-coloured buildings, but the painting style is a little impressionist, so it's not clear what the buildings are, right here on the beach. Beyond them is a dark cliff, with the silhouettes of houses on the crestline against the dawn sky.

Wow. Just... wow.

A dazzling (literally and metaphorically) painting of a lamp post at night. Well, I think it's a lamp post; it's quite hard to tell through the beautiful light it is casting around itself. The light rays are depicted through concentric circles of carefully mixed red, white, yellow and orange v-shapes, which fly to our eyes in loose columns. Around them is an irregular border of green-smudged black, suggesting that no other lights are nearby. Through the dazzle we can see a crescent sliver of yellow new moon.

A figurative depiction of three identical women in identical poses, halfway through a can-can kick. They have pinky-red skin, transparent skirts and no tops on. Maybe one day we will paddle-splash through the wavelets, carrying our shoes, hand-in-hand as the sun glints off the ripple-tops.

We look down on a beach, as if viewing it through binoculars from a clifftop. Little waves wash in at the water's edge, glinting white in the bright sun. A couple walk along, hand-in-hand, carrying their shoes, casting their shadow behind them on the beach. It is all a little blurred and dreamlike. I can only sigh. Sigh.

Good morning! Here, have some #flowers. Enjoy your #Sunday.

A lovely big generous bunch of flowers in a glass vase, painted in a largely but not entirely realistic style. I'm rubbish at remembering which flowers are which, I'm afraid. There are some blue ones, some pink ones, some peach ones, some straw-coloured ones, some whitish-yellow ones, some lilac ones, some red ones. They are all fairly big, with either cup-shaped heads or flat daisylike heads. There are some strands of grass and wheat dotted in there too. The vase's glass has a green tint, but is still transparent so you can see the stems dipping their toes in the water. There are some snailshells (empty) by the base of the vase. In the top right there is a building arch.

I've never liked #dancing. It makes me feel horrible about myself. But I like it when other people #dance. I like it when people are #happy. I hope lots of lovely people have danced themselves happy tonight.

Foremost is a woman with red eyes, in high-heels, a grey thigh-length skir and a teal blouse, her right leg raised halfway through a step, holding both hands with a short-haired figure in black trousers and a white vest. Behind them, a woman in red high-heels and a green dress is being held up (again, I think, halfway through a dance move) by a figure in black trousers and a grey shirt. She has her hands around his neck, and both legs around his waste. A woman next to them is dancing alone in a scarlet red dress, her left hand in the air and her black hair over her face. I reckon she's singing too. The style is realistic yet figurative - that is to say, it's like a picture of people dancing that captures their movement. If I tried to be this happy, I would make myself miserable. But I am glad they're enjoying themselves.

A sleek #cat with junk in the trunk.

A stylised grey, black and white cat with a massive bum, a tiny head, huge eyes, a flat stomach and a curled tail. It is spotty all over, except on its tail and hind legs, where the spots form hoops. It's front paws are neatly together, but it is stepping forward with its right hind leg. It has turned its head to look at us. This is a mischievous devil of a cat, and it is up to something. I love it.

There's no billionaire-league #soccer today because of international matches. So here's a depiction of real #football, when a player would be ashamed to pretend they were hurt.

From a time when football players were tough as teak. Here's two block-headed square-shouldered clog-booted figures tussling over a brown football. They have sharp elbows, meaty thighs and stripey socks. Football wasn't better back then, but in some ways now it is so much worse.

I remember the thrill of being out in the big city, under the lights. It's been a while, but I remember it. I hope those who are larging it right now are having a fine old #Friday night.

Against a woozy backdrop of bright lights and yellow taxis, five figures stride over a pedestrian crossing. Some of them are in short sleeves, so maybe it's a warm night. The painting is both blurred and real, fairly reflecting my (somewhat hazy) memories of nights out on the town.
