(1/3) “Parent Rights” groups and voices in our communities like “Moms for Liberty” are having an outsized impact on school curriculum via local as well as national politics these days.
These groups focus on book bans, anti-LGBTQ policies, #CultureWar issues, etc. Different social media platforms (esp Facebook) play a HUGE role amplifying these voices.

(1/3) Thanks to Jason Neiffer’s AI tool recommendations in tonight’s EdTech Situation Room (Ep 303) I did some quick comparisons between two tools.
First, since I’m in the AI beta for Google Tools, the built-in “Help Me Visualize” option in Google Slides! Image generation takes about 20 seconds, and (in Jason’s words) looks like Stable Diffusion about 6 months ago, but it’s still OK and super easy to use!
Second, a new tool for me: Ideogram

@mguhlin If and when Twitter gets rid of the option to block users, it may be the last straw for me. I've been on the edge of abandoning the #BirdSite for several months now. Such a shame. But such is the dynamic nature of our information landscape today... #MediaLit #SocialMedia
@ct_bergstrom I recommend ignoring vitriolic drivel like that message & not giving it oxygen. We do need to be aware of the darkness in the world, but we need to be careful not to over-amplify it in our quest to fill our lives with more messages reflecting kindness / "the good" rather than evil. This is a difficult line to walk when it comes to media literacy education, I think. #MediaLit
