OK, fine, you could create a Fediverse client in Unity for some "immersive experience" with the Fediverse, but I can't personally imagine using something like that myself.

VRChatにおいて、Oculus Quest 初代機 (Meta Quest/Quest1) のサポートは2023年6月に終了したものの、起動できる状態が続いていましたが、10月18日と11月1日の更新で、起動は出来るものの状態がかなり悪くなりました。
VRChat 2023.4.1p1で、他のユーザーのアバターがローディング中のまま、まったく読み込まれなくなりました。ローディング中アバターは腕の動き等が反映されないため、他のユーザーの位置しかわからなくなりました。
その前のVRChat 2023.4.1 (Unity 2022.3) 時点で、読み込みの負荷が大幅に上がり、重いワールドには入れなくなりました。また、人数が7人を超えるようなインスタンスにも入れなくなったものの、これは「Settings」→「Avatars」→「Avatar Culling」からダウンロード数を絞ることで回避可能です。

こないだ都心の電器店に行ったら#VRゴーグル の、#PICO4 と#MetaQuest 3が置いてあったので使ってみたのだが、思った以上にすごかった。ちゃんと使えたのはPICO 4で、その感想。
映像の精細度は大したことなくて、ドットが一個一個見えるような感じの粗さだったが、頭がどこを向いているかのセンサーとそれに応じた映像の切り替えがすごくて、どんなに頭を早く動かしても、空間内の正しい位置に物があるように見える。
頭の動きに追従できなくて、映像がずれたり揺れたりすることが全くなかった。どんなに頭を早く動かしても、ものはちゃんとそこにあるように見える。頭を動かすのに応じて映像が変化するのが自然で全く違和感がなかった。
両手に持つコントローラーも画面内に出てくるのだが、完全に自分の感覚と同じ場所にコントローラーが見えている。
これはスゴイことになりそうだと感じた。もうちょっと映像が高精細になったらもうVR空間内だけで生きていけそうだ。
Meta Quest 3 も頭の動きに応じた映像の切り替えに違和感がないのは同じだった。
スマホをはめて使う簡易版のVRもそうなんだろうか？

@davemark In my personal use case, I'm more aligned with the Apple vision, however the #MetaQuest seems to be enough for what I need to work in #VR, and the #Quest3 will definitely be an improvement at a price I can justify, while the #VisionPro would require I get into the Apple ecosystem (I use mostly Android, Linux and Windows, no Mac or iOS) plus I cannot justify the price of it in my budget.

I just finished watching Apple's announcement of the new Vision Pro.
I’ve had my Meta Quest 2 (aka Oculus) for nearly a year now, and I use it nearly every day.
My takeaway: I am not the target audience for the Vision Pro. None of the things I like about the Meta Quest were included, and of all of the things that were included, none interested me at all.

My secret shame - I gave in and bought one.
Note, I only did this once you could use it without a FB account!
Have Vive and Vive Pro also. It galls me to say it, but the Quest experience is just better. You pick it up and place it on your head and go. Plus, no Lighthouses.
Vive was boot PC, run the app, and hope all the drivers played nice.
(I had the wireless adapter, so more to go wrong.)
I hate FB and Zuck, but the UX for this device is depressingly good.

Do you know WHY teens in the USA in 2023 aren't into virtual reality? Because teens in the 90s like me WANTED virtual reality, and no one brought it to us properly. And now I'm 43. The industry blew it then, and now it's old news.
I'm still into it, I dig the concept, it's fun. I'm not giving the Oculus people money, but my kid has a Meta Quest 2, I tried it (Beat Saber), it was pretty cool. The game selection still isn't fully there.
There are a few people on TikTok that do some cool stuff with it (check out https://www.tiktok.com/@naysy_vr). There's seriously only like 4 or 5 games out that I've seen that I'd want to try. That's the other big issue. Selection.

I'm going to go out on an unpopular limb here: I like my Meta Quest. I am mostly bedbound, but I used to be an avid explorer of nature. Now I can't get my wheelchair down a trail, and I am deprived of so much beauty. The Quest is far from perfect, and the Metaverse is a truly laughable mess of polygons and propaganda, but there are Jillions of 360 videos from other content creators - from sled rides in the Alps to Coral Reefs to the ISS. It's good to have perspective.

Question about Meta Quest 2. Is it supposed to be crystal clear? I use reading glasses, 2 or 2.5. OTC, not prescription. Without glasses, everything is VERY fuzzy with the Quest. With them, things are better but nowhere near crystal clear. The thing is, how would I know if this set is defective? Adjustments were made but nothing helped. Thoughts?

My only other option would be the PlayStation VR, which I've actually heard isn't as good, it's limited compared to the Oculus. It also isn't an option at the moment because I have no PlayStation newer than a PS2 to play it on. 😂
I've been interested in VR my whole life, and getting to try out the Meta Quest 2 briefly was cool. But I'm also content to wait until prices come down and there are more competitors on the market.
