My aunt Maisie and my cousin Sandy sometime in the early 70s. Maisie was my Dad’s sister and died about ten years ago. I’ve been told I take after her. It is because of her I found out I’m Mi’kmaw. My Dad never talked about being Mi’kmaw until a year ago. That’s one of the awful things residential schools do. He never enrolled me because he was afraid I might get put in one, too. The last one closed a couple of the are after I graduated university. my cousin Sandy grew up to be a professional hockey player. #Mikmaq #Mikmaw #indigenous #FamilyPhotos
