Quick question: is it possible to export my account from a personal #Pleroma server, then install #Calckey / #Misskey in the same domain and then import my data? Last I tried I got an error where my account becomes undefined before being able to recreate it, as there are servers already sending data to my previously existing account in that address. Can I just manually edit the database to grant myself the proper permissions?

I first encountered it in #Misskey and I understood it as “LoveScript”. :cat_boost:
The transliteration of the Nihongo word for love “あい” is “Ai”, since Misskey was created by a Japanese, I actually thought it was “LoveScript”. 😅

It seems `ssl: true is the default for meilisearch config from v13.13 so if your instance has a meilisearch without SSL configured, you have to explicitly say `ssl: false in the #misskey config.

Personal update : Fediverse use
I migrated nearly fully back to Mastodon, as #MonaApp (on iOS) is significantly more powerful & enjoyable. B-)

I comment on PeerTube stuff from #Friendica but don't see any (dis)like counts and only some of the comments. If the video post is looked at from #Mastodon, it seems to display all the comments, #Pleroma shows the same limited few as Friendica, and #Misskey shows most of the comments seen on PeerTube. But none show any (dis)like counts from PeerTube, the ones they do show are limited to how likes are distributed for that software.
As far as Lemmy votes are concerned, they display and function quite nicely within Friendica. I shows me the same number of both up/down votes as likes/dislikes as I see if I look at them on Lemmy.

Yes, there's slowdown in #Mastodon sign-ups. My conjecture for why it's happening:
1. #Bluesky became the hotness and sucked the oxygen out of the room
2. People are awaiting #Barcelona to see what #Meta has to offer
3. There hasn't been a big Mastodon release in a long, long time -- which dulls curiosity about the product
4. Growth of #ActivityPub has moved more towards *key apps (#Misskey, #Calckey, etc.)

As an #Introduction, this is my secondary #Fediverse account alongside my main one found at @queenslight@pone.social.
This one will mostly be for times when I have lots to write about (not that I really need 8000 characters), or when the Mastodon instance I'm on is down do to an update/attack.
I do still have the #Misskey instance I am on too, but unlike with Misskey, Calckey's interface definitely has a much nicer learning curve, and even with its beginnings, is way more #Blind Friendly to screen reader users, even without keyboard shortcuts yet.

Remember above I said there weren't keyboard shortcuts yet I stand corrected! J/K are definitely here. Not sure if the question-mark key shows them all or not, since I haven't gotten that command to work yet. I'll keep looking.

OK, here we go. Here is a first version of a linebot script for #Misskey and #Calckey, called Milkbot. It's a bit rough and ready but should allow anyone to set up a simple line bot for accounts on these platforms really easily.
This is based really strongly on the Swear Clock code base, so if you want to make a bot like that, here you are

I just want to take a minute to give a big thank you to the #Calckey :calckey: and #Misskey :misskey: developers for building a tool that so easily allows a single, determined user of middling tech literacy and dubious skill to easily follow a local emergency and pass along what I've seen with minimal friction.
Honestly, I never had a real opportunity to see the power of Antennae until just about a day ago, but they've been instrumental in keeping me and my family up to date, and in making it so easy to boost things others are reporting, keeping relevant information in peoples views.
Also, a big, big thanks to @mike@thecanadian.social for being a huge help in getting the word out to Nova Scotians and the people who care about them. And to a whole bunch of others who have followed me in the last few hours and have been boosting updates. I hope y'all will stick around with me for a few days as we here in the Halifax area sit and wait to see which ones of us are going to lose the fire lottery and keep helping news and information around to those who need to see it.
I'm going to stick with the fire news until it's contained. After that, it'll be back to regularly scheduled moaning and griping about my privileged existence.

PCで #Misskey #Calckey をクラシックUIにしても落ち着かない理由がわかった。Twitter / Mastodon / Elkはタイムラインの最大横幅が600pxまでなのにMisskey / Calckeyは750pxもある!
150pxは大きいな。ということでカスタムCSSでmainのmax-widthを600pxまでに制限するようにしてみた。自分でいうのもなんだけど結構いい感じ
幅だけ変えたい人は、htmlの部分はフォントの設定なのでmain.mainのところだけカスタムCSSに貼り付ければOK

According to @mastodonusercount@mastodon.social, there are now 12 million #Mastodon accounts.
This is good news for the growth of the #Fediverse, but there's a caveat.
Other than on mastodon.social, Mastodon sign-ups are slowing down. In my own estimation, the majority of Mastodon servers aren't experiencing any growth -- and many are losing servers.
At one point, https://joinmastodon.org was critical to driving sign-ups amongst many Mastodon servers. But from what numerous admins tell me, sign-ups from there have slowed to a trickle.
With https://home.social closing down soon, I fear this is a harbinger for more big server shutdowns. That is, unless something is done.
However, Mastodon isn't the entirety of the story.
It looks like *key apps are spurring more user adoption.
#Misskey is now the 2nd most used Fediverse software after Mastodon.
And within a month, #Calckey has nearly doubled in size -- despite the flagship server (which I admin) overcoming a few key challenges.
Of course, the arrival of #Barcelona will change everything. How? I don't entirely know.
But now with 12 million Mastodon users, it's time for the next chapter of the Fediverse.
@weareopencoop I appreciate the tip. Simply visiting a #Misskey page put my PC to hard work (even mouse movement was unbarably slow). I looked at the #greenfediverse list for a #Calckey instance and there were only a few listed, none of which were /green/. But that list is old so maybe I should look further on that.
#MastodonIsNotTheFediverse. And misskey.io is not Mastodon either; it's the biggest #MissKey instance.
@Tim Chambers It's a pity that only a bunch of instances were analysed that were important in mid-March. The graph would look different if it had taken the recent #CalcKey growth into consideration.

I tried to login to my little homemade #Mastodon client using my Calckey account. It gets to the #OAuth permissions page, but on redirect back to my site I get an error.

今日の #vivalditokyo2023 で、#Misskey のどこかのサーバーにも自分のトゥートが流れてるっぽいお話を聞いて、自分は #Misskey やってないので、きっと Misskey なサーバーにいる方がフォローしたりブーストしてくれたということなんだと思うと、なんかありがたいなと思った。

Some #bluesky users are very afraid of federation and even 10% of the posts being non-indexed for whatever reasons scare them. They want to see the full graph and index everything.
On the other side some #mastodon users are very scared that non-mastodon servers have basic text search to find public posts that are locally visible.

Some thoughts about #fullsearch of federated-with instances. 🧵 1/2
1. Conflating any ill will you have with Supernovae at #Universeodon, with the issue of search indexing on the Fediverse to justify your fediblock won't help resolve the issues around search.
2. It isn't global search. While we shout, lock down, and don't participate in building the additions to our protocols that the #Fediverse needs, we've been letting #Google index the Fediverse. It's already searchable and Google's new Perspectives tab is going to make it even easier. Maybe we could fight that rather than keep thinking it doesn't exist and continuing to write ineffective Facebook-viral style "I do not give permission..." copypasta?
3. The #Fediverse does not respect your do-not-index-my-posts flag. It never has. It can't. It's not supported by the #Mastodon API, as @supakaity@blahaj.zone explains, and nor is it supported at #ActivityPub level and will need to be added into a new AP protocol.
Every instance server from the #Misskey (#Calckey, #Foundkey), #Pleroma (#Akkoma), and #Friendica (#Hubzilla, #Streams) lineages has full search of federated-with instances as default. All these services actually pre-date the creation of Mastodon in 2016 you can read @Polychrome@poly.cyber.city 's post for their commentary on such. Fediblock all of them to create your very own #Mastoverse or you could become part of building a better, safer, Fediverse? Perhaps through participating in the Fediverse Enhancement Proposals? #FEP

#Pixelfed is about capturing the beauty in everyday life.
#WriteFreely is about undistracted, lengthy thoughts (mostly technical).

Hello world, I'm Je Sian. I am currently a Chemical Engineering (ChE) student in my fourth year.
I do some #coding as a hobby. Currently, I'm interested in doing data analysis related to #quantifiedself with my own data with #Python.
I joined #Calckey to be because I was interested in its features and seem to be one of the better platforms. Just having some support for Markdown and displaying equations has me hooked. I tried #Misskey but the majority of the content I see is Japanese.
I also like 🍨 ice cream, ☕ iced coffee, and 🍹 iced tea, in no particular order.
