Last night I went to my #Masjid's celebration of #Mawlid, the commemoration of the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad SAWS. It was a quietly beautiful experience.
Communal #Prayer in small spaces where people like to chatter is challenging for us #Autistic people. I didn't have my AirPods with me last night to reduce noise. And in the past, repetitive phrases, chants, and so forth have done nothing to calm me down.
So it was real #Baraka (blessing) last night when the chatter and crowding didn't bother me. And the #Wird (praise and prayer in #Verse form) settled my mind down just a bit. Alhamdulillah.
Our #Masjid , the Mezquita Mayor of #Granada, #Spain, was founded by students of the late Shaykh Mohammad ibn al-Habib (may Allah SWT be pleased with him). My former Arabic teacher is a Moroccan who organizes tourist experiences that are actually invited by local communities and give people a chance to have meaningful cultural exchange experiences in areas like those hit worst by the earthquake. His organization has started a disaster relief effort in coordination with the communities he works with.
I can say he is someone I trust and respect a great deal, and really encourage anyone with a bit of money they can afford to give to send some to this disaster relief effort.
