#Dogtooth, #2009, is the most bizarre and disturbing #movies I've seen in a long time.

It's played light but from the start there's a psychological violence that's shown to have physical and sexual components as well.

Nothing is normal in this family's life but it's all treated as if it's not just normal, but ideal.

Unsettling and unnerving in every scene, not even the ending gives relief, just more dread.

Technically it's not #horror, but it's horrifying.

I just saw this surprising and delightful #Movie on Prime! 😎

It was quirky and weird, adorable and sweet, and utterly absurd, yet totally down to earth! And did I mention adorable? 😉

It did veer in a dark direction at one point, as seemed inevitable for a story with several nods to Frankenstein. But that was resolved in an appropriately ridiculous and wholesome way! 😄

Does anyone have recommendations for films released in the last decade or so (specifically films, not tv shows) that are, well... fun? Just fun. Comedy fun, action fun, thriller fun, whatever.

I'm having a really bad time and all the films I have to watch seem to be weighty dramas.

A few caveats though:
- I'm not looking for any horror fun
- Nor any gross-out comedies
- And nothing with Will Ferrell (I really don't get on with Will Ferrell)
- Oh, and no superheroes

Today, March 16, mission control technician Elliot Whitter notices something is amiss when the Capricorn One crew's television signals are being transmitted ahead of the ship's telemetry (Capricorn One, 1978)

March 16, inside a space control room on the ground. The seal reads Capricorn One. A man is talking to a manager. "The readout. The television signals are coming in ahead of the spacecraft signals. It's like they're closer or something. Much closer."

It's Thursday, here's a throwback to some of my horror movie posters 🖤

#ThrowbackThursday #Movies #MastoArt #Photography

My poster for The Blair Witch Project, based on the original art where a woman's face is very near the camera looking very perturbed.
My poster for The Lost Boys featuring my clay interpretation of David
My poster for Oldboy featuring a man with a mouth full of squid (yuck)
My poster for A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night featuring my clay interpretation of the Girl. A very bold yet simplistic image in black, white and red.

“I wanted to honor the providers as people. They’re not anti-family. They’re about taking care of people and meeting people where they need to be met.”

In the new #documentary Plan C, showing at #SXSW, director Tracy Droz Tragos illuminates the struggle to ensure people can access #abortion medication, even as info sharing is under fire from #Texas. @sarahutch visited with Droz Tragos and site co-founder Amy Merrill: https://www.texasobserver.org/plan-c-abortion-pill-medication-censorship-documentary-sxsw/

'BlackBerry' with Glenn Howerton and Jay Baruchel looks pretty great. I loved my BlackBerry- I had the Storm and then the Storm 2. Great little phones. Putting Elastica in the trailer was a win too- every movie trailer should just do that. 🤣

Today, we conclude Round One of our Golden Age of Hollywood Mastodon Mega Movie Poll. Round Two starts tomorrow. Meanwhile, I’d like to thank you for your interest, support, votes and boosts. Last year, I ran a similar poll on the tweet platform and I have to say that the response on Mastodon has been far more impressive.

If you have missed any of the results to date you can find them on our website.

Kicking off our coverage of #SXSW, @gusbova reviews Deadland, a story of the #border that's far more than it first appears. What begins as an action film about racist patrolmen quickly deepens into something more disturbing:
