@karlpybara I see people complain about this a lot but I've consistently been able to maintain a couple of the top Standard decks without running out of wildcards and without spending money on the game. So I have to wonder what I'm doing differently 🤷
I *do* have some complaints about how lopsided a lot of the Standard matchups seem to be, but that seems like a less significant issue.

Honestly I might uninstall #mtga already.
I can't keep up with Standard because it requires too many wildcards to adapt to all the new decks and my brain can't handle that much information.
Explorer barely has any players.
Historic is riddled with The One Ring, which I believe was the biggest mistake #wotc ever printed.
Brawl won't let me play my fav cards without crashing, same One Ring problem, and way too many tryhards winning on turn 4, in a casual format.

Very successful draft night! Got to pilot a pretty powerful WU control deck featuring a board wipe and lotsa card draw. Highlight of the night was bargaining away a Hatching Plans to a Farsight Ritual to draw 5 cards on my buddy’s end step.

Vs WG Midrange Roles: 2-0
Lots of really close games with friends, and a trophy 3-0 match record to boot. Snuck a quick commander game in after the draft too. Very nice!

What is the cards name? What is the current wording? What zone does the creature go to if it dies, under 2023 rules / can cards that affect exile "touch" the crrature burned by the spell?

I hate how Scute Swarm is unplayable on #MTGA...just now had one on the board, had a few land drops, the client started to lag. On my next upkeep I had a Mending Of Dominaria resolve, bring 9 lands back from the graveyard. It gave me 120 triggers, each taking 2-3 seconds to resolve. The game timed me out because I was ''not taking actions'' and skipped my turn while I HAD A CRATERHOOF IN HAND. Fuck this garbage client!

Something that really pisses me off with #MTGA is the lack of scarcity of Avatars, Sleeves & Companions. Like a lot of them are only available during a limited time and if you weren't playing during that time you're just screwed. It really doesn't make sense business-wise either; I'd love to pay for an Arlinn avatar, but I literally cannot buy one. #WOTC really have a thing for making the worst decisions...

Magic the Gathering players, I have a confession. I am a blue player.
I have 4 commander decks, 3 of which have blue as one of its colors. Only 2 out of 4 of those decks are fun and interactive to play against. I just have to accept that this is part of who I am now. There is no escaping the truth.
One time, I was playing an artifact deck, and my board state allowed me to play infinite counterspells so no one could play cards anymore.
I have, and am a curse.

Same goes for double-faced (or even 6-faced cards for #MTGA god that's dumb) being SOOO common now; it's so rough for paper magic always having to physically unsleeve & flip cards, and makes for way too complicated cards. Not every card needs to be a novel, my brain is not built to keep track of all these things. It was fine for werewolves, or enclosed to certain sets, but they're everywhere now, it's just too much...
Might be a boomer moment, but I really hate how #MTG has really shifted its product design to be more of an online game, rather than paper.
Like every card having dozens of alt-art, textless, etc. versions is fine on #MTGA since you can just over the card to see the original version and know what it does, but in paper magic it makes card recognition, clarity & accessibility a living hell. Some of these cards I can't even read for god's sake!

Had enough gems for 2 tries at this weekend's Arena Open, but unfortunately we did not do well =/ First run went 5-3 and 2nd run went 3-3. Second run was obviously a waste of gems, but first run felt good and the deck was sweet but we got two losses from Gruff Triplets and the third loss because I was a bit too aggressive. Better luck next time!
I think the biggest side-effect of “Oops, Three Year Standard” is going to be the mana bases.
Mana in Standard is already oppressively good if your deck can handle playing some tapped lands. I hate to think how much better it might get if there is a strong land cycle in an upcoming set.
Thought experiment time - there’s a Ravnica set coming up. If it has the shock lands in it, do you think the Capenna tricycle lands would need to take early retirement?

As for me, none of the announced Universes Beyond collabs really caught my eye (except for a cautious, wait-and-see interest in the Final Fantasy crossover), but I am PUMPED for 2024's premiere slate:

I even came up with a combat keyword mechanic for it once (Shootout, a way to split combat damage)! Cannot wait to see what the *actual* Wizards have come up with.
-#Bloomburrow: Get outta town! I had not one, not two, but THREE #Redwall -themed RP websites on Geocities when I was a younger teen. I read every book Brian Jacques ever wrote up til his death, save like one or two. Redwall and (especially) Mossflower defined so much of my childhood reading experience. I'm all in.

I hope the ENTIRE plane is one impossibly large Winchester House nightmare of phantom staircases, sub-sub-sub basements, pivoting walls, and blood-soaked ghosts seeking vengeance for long-forgotten crimes.
