I have largely been a loner all my life. Art has always been my solace, whether it was writing erotic prose, sketching charcoal and ink portraits, or developing images in a darkroom, art has been a quiet contemplation - a way for me to block out the noise of everyday living.
Nature has had the same healing effect on me. Whether it be walking up the volcanoes of Bali or the Philippines, or sitting in an American desert contemplating the expanse, or hiking through lush ferny forests to hidden waterfalls across New Zealand and Australia, the environment speaks to my heart and soul.
Nature does not discriminate. It does not judge your sexuality, your gender, your politics, your skin colour.
Being diagnosed with autism ten years ago made my solitary ways feel normal for the first time in my long life. But now, for the first time, I am actively pursuing ways to combine my love of art and nature and bring them to people en masse.
Please help me unite the world (even if just our local community) so that we can save the world (on both a local and international scale) by continuing to tell people about the exhibition, it runs until the 17th September, 11am - 5pm. We need to unite and rehab this beautiful planet. 🌏💗

A wonderful multimedia installation, Antoine’s Organ, by Rashid Johnson is the centerpiece of the Presence of Plants in Contemporary Art show at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in #Boston MA. I made a second cyanotype of a cloudy sky printed with my Lino block with several different kites and wind socks. Then I printed my block on various beautiful patterned and coloured Japanese washi papers, and collaged them on my image. I did a little embellishment with Posca pen.
The koï-shaped wind socks are traditionally flown in Japan on Children’s Day, May 5.

I embellished this cyanotype of wildflowers and grasses on watercolour paper with a deckle edge with my linocut prints of moths on Japanese washi paper. The moths are all found here in Ontario: the yellow and purplish-pink Imperial moth (Eacles imperialis), the red-orange, black and cream Virgin Tiger Moth (Apantesis virgo), and the black and white White Underwing (Catocala relicta).

I’ve thinking about multimedia involving cyanotype lately. Here’s a print I made last summer with both my cyanotype on watercolour paper (11" x 14") with images of black locust leaves & wildflowers I combined with my Eastern tiger swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) butterfly linocut on yellow washi paper.
Next week is #PollinatorWeek so I will be posting all many of my favourite native insect species all week.

Another #Junicorn #unicorn: This small canvas is a mixed media collage artwork with layered gorgeous Japanese washi papers and handprinted lino block prints includes a unicorn on sheet music, a purple martin, spotted lanternfly, beetles and flowers.
The canvas is 9 inches by 12 inches by 0.5 inches deep (23 cm by 30 cm by 1.5 cm).

I had my little rock baby earlier tonight, and within a few hours I felt like myself again.
Just in time to play a game, and review it before bed, 15 minutes and I'm away.
The best laid plans of mice and women and all of that...
Unmemory is a murder mystery puzzle game, via a novel, mashed up with Christopher Nolan's "Memento", and a multimedia demo CD from the mid-1990's, packaged up like a tar baby for the unwary #AuDHD gamer.
Last night's game kept me distracted. Tonight, on the other hand, I was hyperfocused as this game scratches multiple itches simultaneously. Lots of small details to take notice of; pieces to put together, patterns to match.
As the main character (gender unclear), you wake up with amnesia, covered in blood, and find yourself trying to solve the murder of the woman in the bathtub. Who is she? Am I responsible? What is going on??
I've tried not to spoil the game with any details of the storyline in the review, because it's just downright enjoyable to learn what's happening as you go, and start finding order within the chaos.
This is genuinely the kind of game that suits the term "multimedia", and it's not as an insult.

the CD is a small #macromedia director projector. most of it consists of previews of websites and #multimedia cd-roms shown in the book
the cd also contains The End of Days (1999) film website in its entirety, which is worth the price of admission 😅

today i discovered a #cdrom that contained the entire #worldwideweb experience for arnie's "end of days" action flick from 1999
the website is a classic artifact of the late 90s web ephemera: macromedia shockwave, popup windows and moody #millenium collage art pour l'art
i put together a screen recording of navigating the site on netscape communicator for macOS 9 with shockwave. these kinds of in-browser..... #multimedia exploits haven't been possible for decades 😅

Day 23 of #ArtAdventCalendar is Wiwaxia! This is a handprinted #linocut Wiwaxia, a half billion year old soft-bodied animal covered in scales and spines. These animals lived in the early and middle Cambrian period and fossils are found worldwide, including in Canada's Burgess Shale. The animals themselves were only about 5 cm (2") but my linocut prints are much bigger. Each print is 28 cm by 35.6 cm (11" by 14").
