Mordhau is a first-person or third-person medieval combat simulator/slasher.
I picked it out of my unused Steam keys list last night, then realising I already owned it on EGS, decided to install it there.
I thought, for some reason, it was a Soulslike.
It is not. It like a twin to Chivalry II, right down to the annoying knight doing the tutorial.
Multiplayer game, enter tutorial, use the mouse to try and do a bunch of different sword moves and parries.
Unlike Chivalry II, you also get the option of training with a bow and arrow (which was OK), and jumping on a horse and using a lance.
Somehow, as frustrating as Chivalry II was, this was *more* frustrating. I could not, for the life of me, coordinate the horse and the lance, and after spending half of my playtime trying to hit the second of four targets with the lance, my frustration exceeded my patience, and I quit the game, and recovered 36GB of SSD space.
For someone who's into multiplayer swordfighting, this game might be right up your alley, which is why I'm throwing the Steam key into my giveaway list.

It's kinda sad how #multiplayer gaming has become very ... unsocial?
I think for two hours or so I've tried finding a #MonsterHunterRise lobby with people who actually talk and acknowledge my presence in any capacity, but it's just been a whole lot of people quietly going through the motions and not making any effort to communicate.
What is even the point of online games if you aren't going to interact with anyone? It sucks that you have to Bring Your Own Friends nowadays.

Weird opinion which I'm not sure how many people share: in a multiplayer game, I'd rather have very toxic chat (like #Dota2) rather than no chat at all (like #MasterDuel).
#Multiplayer games are played mostly for the social experience, and limiting communication between players completely gets rid of that; you might be playing a singleplayer game at that point...

It would be nice if Nintendo open sourced their legacy online services for the 3DS/Wii U while maintaining the systems release channel.

Wir (meine Liebste, eine Freundin und ich) haben Samstag eine Session BG3 gestartet. Wollten zu viert, aber nr.4 könnte dich nicht.
Die erste Zeit war richtig gut! Hat Spaß gemacht und alles hat gefluppt. Dann ging's aber los, ständiges rücken, sobald einer sein aktionsrad aufgerufen hat. Freezes mitten im Kampf. Vir allem wenn 2 von uns zeitgleich gezaubert haben. Und am nervigsten ständige Aussetzer der Controller. X drücken ging nicht mehr etc.

I am missing a #mmorpg.
Is there anything adventure-oriented and not plagued with the mobile braindeath F2P business model?
New World was fun for the 80h I played, until it dropped that ridiculous level design of long corridors with fast respawning mobs and quests that require lots of back-and-forth (you know the one, the one with the canyons).
Lost Ark has too many currencies and systems where they try to BS you into spending premium currencies.
I had enough of Guild Wars 2, great jump puzzles, but the combat is very unsatisfying and the story / world design feels aggressively generic.
Warframe has awesome combat, but is way too grindy and most enemies die in a single hit.
Yes, I realise this is at least part me being kinda done with the genre, but there is still something wonderful in having an adventure where you can bump into other players that is not satisfied in other kinds of games. And I don't expect adopting one as my main game for the long term, but wouldn't mind having somewhere to wander for a few weeks.
I need all the couch #multiplayer #Steam #games recommendations I can get. Anyone have any they’re into? I only know of the #Overcooked series, sports games like #FIFA, and not much else.

- Shared install, so you can do LAN games with your friends for free.

- LAN? Na mate, internet only, and you have to use our own servers, btw they will shutdown next year for the next release. Don't forget to have a fiber optic connection or you will lag.

Sometimes the reveal of the Humble Bundle on the first Tuesday of the month is a pleasant surprise. Sometimes, it's a case of finding I already have the AAA game in the bundle.
Then there's months like this, where I was overjoyed* to see the second game in the bundle.
Chivalry II.
On December 28th last year, in what was the predecessor to this project, my personal rating on the predecessor, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare was "Meh".
It was DirectX 9, laggy as hell, and I didn't even complete the tutorial.
Does Chivalry II turn me into a fan?
First up, like Temtem last month, Chivalry II is primarily a multiplayer game. If I were a cynical woman, I might infer that there are some devs looking to the Humble Bundle there trying to goose the player base on their games.
Chivalry II is a first-person OR third-person medieval battle simulator.
There's no single-player campaign, just a somewhat frustrating tutorial to go through before being thrust onto a multiplayer battlefield.
It's said that trying to create art with a mouse is like trying to draw with a bar of soap, and trying to swing a sword with a bar of soap is worse.
On the off hand that it worked better with a controller, I tried the tutorial with a controller instead.
It was not better.
There were points during the tutorial where I was doing exactly as instructed, and not succeeding.
At one point, I had to block two opponents, and then move the mouse to the left to slash left.
The sword slashed right. I tried repeatedly, eventually figuring I was moving the mouse to the wrong left. I moved it to my other left.
The sword slashed right.
Eventually, mercifully, I made it through the tutorial, and onto the battlefield. At least I could show my mettle, and my metal, against a field full of human opponents.
Ah, no.
That would be a field full of bots. 63 bots and me.
But it was fun, right?
Nope. It was not even that.
Frantically trying to remember all the different ways to block and riposte, and heavy attack and light attack, and it was a lot easier to die than to fight.
I dropped my weapon, and walked away from the battlefield, with no desire to return. I'll cash in the trading cards, and then get 25Gb of NVMe space back.

Turbo Golf Racing is game #6 from the June 2023 Humble Choice bundle and answers the question "What if Rocket League, but mini golf?"
I really don't know what else there is I can say about it.
Take away the stadium, give all 8 players their own ball, three competitive rounds to get your ball from one end of the green to the hole as fast as possible.
Powerups, weapons, wildly differing greens.
This is a multiplayer game, and I can understand why they were willing to put it into a bundle less than a year after release.
As with any multiplayer game, no players = no game, so by putting it into a bundle, the devs are obviously hoping to goose the playerbase.
I did find a match, and it was kind of fun, but I suspect this will end up being another also-run game that will get shut down in a year or two, just through not having enough players to support ongoing development.

Growing up, I always avoided the "knights & ninjas" genre of #videoGames. Dodging bullets wasn't my thing. So I totally slept on #gauntlet.

Multiplayer. I love to play coop with friends, sometimes even with people i don't know.
That's mainly PvE, but there's room for PvP, but only vs people who want and like that as well.
Emphasis here sits heavily on "with". This "with" means: the people i team up and play with as well as people i just randomly meet in a game get the same like me from any situation: fun. I consider engaging others other than they want as bullying. EOD.
