The #Friedensengel park dates back to 1891, and the city has had to face the fact that it needs a renovation. Let’s just say that we have a bit of snow in #Munich. Around 50cm has fallen since Thursday. It’s wonderfully quiet. No cars in the hood. Main station was closed, airport also. Life is slowly returning while I enjoy a walk outside :)

Today the newly fallen #snow through havoc on the transport system in #Munich with most vehicles not even attempting to move. The southern Bavarian region got ca. 50 cm of snow since Friday at the forecast estimates it to continue to fall up to 80 cm.
It has been reported that the such a snow storm hasn’t happened in the last 20 years.
The annoyance of transit halt and cancelations are understandable. Further shoveling snow never really stops. If one plans to move about one should question the load baring capacities of trees, which can make matters much worse in a vehicle hindered system without necessary infrastructure if caught underneath.
The forecast for Sunday is to drop the temperature down to -15 °C before recovering on Monday. Flooding might be the next concern, since the forecast claims 5 °C for the weekend.
Now, snow does happen in December, but this is all a bit weird.
46cm last night in Munich, a December record. No buses trams or trains running, which I have never experienced before. We're usually quite resilient here...

Ok, we now have a real #snow storm #Munich. I sometimes pick up my MIL from daycare ans use the car. But after 700m or so, I had to actually park the car, leave it and use the subway (which reqiires about 500m walk and that's not really easy for her...)
So, I'm curious how the car will look like when I get back.

And yes, that one on the second photo is our "Holiday Tree" (aka Christmas Tree). It is growing and we love it.
Distant were the first band yesterday and duly opened the evening! A relentless sound 🔪, brutally pounding.
The breakdowns were thick, as if they were drowned in a pot of pitch, and deep enough to shake your insides.
I'd never consciously listened to the band before, but I was hooked right from the start. A great opener!

For my urban sketches I typically do light pencil outlines, then watercolor, and then ink last.
In this case, I left out the inking as I was happy with the delicate watercolor effects as is.

Yesterday, while walking to #Marielplatz in #Munich where they are setting up the #Christmas market I saw this sign.
I'm tempted to actually try this out.
For my non-#Bavarian followers: Leberkäs is also known as "Fleischkäse" (Meat Cheese) because *by definition it is made of meat* (or something that resembles or contains meat).
So, if you put a sign saying "also available vegan", I have absolutely no idea what I'd be getting if I'd ask for "Leberkäs, vegan". I am afraid to even ask.

Last year, on new years eve, the outside temperature here in #Munich was 20°C. At a time of the year where it usually was close to or below 0°C. I was shocked. But I was quite alone. No-one else seemed to care at the time. Finding the balance between ignorance and panic mode isn't easy. But things are very off wrt weather and climate. You can ignore this at your own peril, sure. I don't. And I try to do whatever I can do to minimise my personal impact and keep you all informed.
I am so looking forward to this temperature drop from 27°C to 9°C in #Munich over the next few days but I am still shocked by the lack of rain. This is not normal.

Sometimes City Life has its advantages. Woke up 2 times with pain in my ear. Decided to go to the doctor. On a Sunday. In #Munich. During #Oktoberfest. Well. 12 minutes on the bicycle to the clinic. 20 minutes waiting time. Another 15 minutes on the bicycle to the pharmacy. Now back home with a diagnosis and medicine. Otitis externa plus otitis media. 8€ for the medicine (because sunday), 0€ for the doctors visit. And no, I don’t have private health insurance. Just the regular public one (DAK)
