Es soll sie noch geben, die Journalistinnen und Journalisten, die recherchieren und Fragen stellen. Zum Beispiel an den Kurznachrichtendienst Twitter, der trotz seines neuen Eigentümers immer noch eine immense Bedeutung in der internationalen Kommunikation hat. Nachdem Elon Musk erst mal Tausende Mitarbeiter von jetzt auf gleich auf die Straße gesetzt und die Accounts kritischer Journalisten zumindest zeitweise gesperrt hat, war es vergleichsweise ruhig um den Milliardär geworden. Seine Ankündigung, sich von der Twitter-Spitze zurückzuziehen, hatte ihn und den Dienst erst mal aus den Schlagzeilen gebracht.
Gerade ist Elon Musk dabei, der Ruhe en Ende zu bereiten. Und das mit einer kleinen Grafik, nicht mehr. Journalisten, die Presseanfragen an Twitter schicken, obwohl es dort keine Pressestelle mehr gibt, erhalten sogar Antwort - vom Chef höchstselbst. Aber was für eine? Ein Kothaufen-Emoji hält Musk für die Rechercheure bereit.
Kann sich irgendjemand vorstellen, von einem Dax-Unternehmen eine solche Antwort zu bekommen? Wahrscheinlich nicht. Bei Musk wundert man sich inzwischen kaum noch, so verkommen ist das Ansehen des einstigen Wunderkinds. Fehlt nur noch, dass seine Antworten Geruch verströmen. Aber vielleicht arbeitet er ja schon daran.

Was er von den Medien, von Pressefreiheit und damit letztlich auch von Demokratie hält, ist mehr als nur offensichtlich. War es natürlich auch vorher schon, aber dieses Niveau ist ein erneuter Tiefpunkt.

I used to work for a major parts supplier to #Tesla. #Musk imposed a philosophy of using the least expensive parts possible in the Tesla vehicles, right down to the latches on the trunk. Therefore, engineers working at our company on automated driving were aghast, but not surprised, when Musk eliminated the radars. #Radars are expensive and therefore a natural target for cost cutting. First, #christianity (and #religion in general) is antidemocratic.
I mean, when was that last time WE got to vote on who our #religious #leaders are. And yet, we grant these individuals massive #power to sway #public #opinion based on totally non-verifiable claims.
But more than that, I want people to understand that any #argument not based on #rationality and #logic is an argument supporting concentrated #authoritarian power.
This is because #EVERYONE can make an airtight #logical argument. All of #us. And, logical arguments hold their own power in #beauty and #simplicity. This threatens authoritarian power.
Conversely, who gets to make specious irrational claims and have them broadcast with a #megaphone from #sea to shining sea? That's right ... people already holding power. Nobody questions it because their appeal is by #definition a #logical #fallacy. Their appeal is to their own #authority.

What motivated me to use #Mastodon?
1) #Twitter has been chaotic under #Musk;
2) I'm a longtime #Linux user and prefer the free, open-source, decentralized model to the centralized, algorithm-driven;
3) I also prefer my timeline in chronological order.
It took me a while to learn how to find and follow ppl on Mastodon. Other than that, Mastodon has met or exceeded my expectations. It has organizing tools where Twitter has nothing.
I've always said he's a nutter. Too many have been blinded by his money.
