When Johnson was PM, it was clear that he had absolutely no desire to solve the problems with the Northern Ireland Protocol.
It suited him just fine to have a permanent source of dispute with the EU, so he could paint the EU as the Bad Guys.
I don't know if that's also true of Sunak, or if he actually wants to solve the problem, but I suspect it will make little difference in practice.
I cannot see how the problem can be solved.

Given the grumpy and intransigent response from the DUP TUV and D’dee mouthpiece, I rather doubt we will be friends of any kind between Ireland and UK; OTOH, #Tories desperately need a deal with the EU, and the USA is bound to put some pressure on especially with regard to the GFA, I see a deal being done, a large [Not Wrightbus] bus heading for Unionists; SC ruling due shortly also, so that will give the UK Govt the coverage they need. #NIprotocol #tories

M&S determinedly ignored the potential impacts of Brexit on their business, through their chairman Archie Norman. I'm wondering what all his buyers and logistics people thought he was at when they knew the reality. Having closed most EU stores and reduced lines in Irish stores N&S they're still not up to speed.
