HMCS Charlottetown apparently has a propulsion issue, resulting in only one shaft being functional. The note I saw indicated only one engine operating, but CPF’s only have one engine (there are two turbines for high speed sailing)

So, today, thinking of rockets and the necessary alignment of thrust axis and CG, I scribbled down some notes of the additional challenge this offers carriers such as the Hurricane-class of needing to manage the parking locations of AKVs aboard to avoid unbalancing the ship (in the same way as shifting cargo) and causing a tumble.
I find myself wondering if this is a consideration for wet navy aircraft carriers in the real world. Do y'all have balance problems to avoid if you launch all the planes parked on one side of the hangar? Would earlier carriers, like a Yorktown or a Midway?

The USS Chancellorsville is now called the USS #RobertSmalls, the Black Union hero who stole a #Confederate steamer loaded with guns & delivered it to the Union #Navy, delivering himself & 16 other crew & their families from slavery.

The last two episodes are #Earthquake and #Hurricane.
I've felt a couple of small earthquakes and been in and on the edge of several hurricanes.
Even though hurricanes are much larger and more destructive than tornados, it's twisters that terrify me most because they're basically unpredictable.
But the time when I was in the #Navy and we put out to sea and got caught in a hurricane for 12 hours was terrifying.
All Sky. All Water. Straight up the peak, straight down into the trough.
Thinking back about the past couple of years' release of Navy UAP videos and the relatively open discussion that followed, and looking at the past 72hrs' news gives me a somewhat odd feeling.

A new supercarrier will be christened the USS Doris Miller. It's the 1st one to be named for an enlisted sailor & the 1st to be named after an #AfricanAmerican. Most are named for U.S presidents. During the attack on Pearl Harbor & his #ship Miller saved lives & unpermitted fired a machine gun at enermy planes. He eventually received the #Navy Cross altho an official commendation list didn't bother to mention his name

Beginning Tuesday (JAN 24TH), U.S. military veterans who find themselves in suicidal crisis will be eligible for free emergency medical care at any Department of Veterans Affairs facility or any private facility.
Unlike for most other medical benefits, veterans do not have to be enrolled in the VA system to be eligible.

I’m Nick and a recent @linguistics #phd grad from Georgetown in Washington DC. I research language in and about #military and #veteran populations, language about national security, and often through a #queer lens (ie gender and sexuality).
