My husband has ADHD, and is a coach (MS Psych) for people functioning in work environments that are hostile/indifferent to neurodivergent employees. He works with their managers too. I’m finding an increasing number of ND folks also align with sex positive, perverted, kinky, BDSM, and/or fetish ways. I’m wondering what it might be like to have ND gatherings. Hehe

I’m having conversations around the subjects of challenges in flirting and courting with NT folks. Might we have better success if we shared unconventional communication styles?

One of my favorite things about mastodon is the ability to write a note on people's profiles you can update any time and only you see!

Realizing I have a spot to put reminders for myself about a person's pronouns, things they have mentioned that I related to (like if they are disabled), labels/terms they use as self descriptors or specify they do not want to be used to describe them, and any other facts about them or interactions I want to remember is AMAZING.

I made myself a little template early on with some of the info I am most likely to want to know so I can keep it all organized and also note if certain info is NOT shared- because, for example, as a trans person I may feel differently about a post about transphobia based on if it is by a person who has said they are trans (which I put in the note) v a person whose hasn't shared anything related to their gender (so the note has a blank there and they MAY be trans) v someone who has specifically said they are cis.

All you gotta do is go to a person's page, click the three stacked up dots, and click 'add note' and it will show up anytime you go to their page right above their bio!

I don't think I could possibly overstate how helpful it is to know I don’t need to worry about forgetting basic info about a person because I have a note I can check anytime I need to. It’s particularly helpful if you (like me) have any issues with your memory but honestly every human forgets stuff sometimes so I highly recommend it for any and everyone.

editing to add: if someone is an asshole I will also use the note to write something like "this person sucks", "ableist", "this person seemed great but then said X and ewwww" so if I end up encountering them again I get the reminder, which is also super helpful!

I've ordered a bunch of fidget toys to try out and all of them ended up being rather underwhelming, except for the bicycle chain spinner.

It actually doesn't spin well, but it's pleasantly heavy, silent enough to use during a conversation, and versatile. Can be used with one or two hands, squished with force, there are many different grips and spaces to push fingers into. Also, it's slim and fits into a pocket.
