It’s arrived a day early & I’m #NowSpinning #ReturnToCarnegieHall by #RyanAdams.
At the moment, this is a #vinyl only limited (to 1k copies) release. I’m revisiting Adams’ output after a long hiatus & have been both overwhelmed & underwhelmed by a lot of his recent output & it’s maybe somewhat telling that this live set is skewed heavily towards his early & mid-career output. The material here is strong & immaculately performed.

After the disappointing FA cup final result, I’m #NowSpinning #MellowGold by #Beck. I’ve been lucky to see Beck perform live a bunch of times, but his solo acoustic performance of #TruckDrivinNeighborsDownstairs on the Odelay tour, still ranks as one of the best things I’ve seen.
Oh, & then there is #Beercan which just thumps.
This pressing is nothing special, a reissue, but it sounds good enough - given the recording itself is lofi.

Late birthday gift arrived today & so I’m #NowSpinning #ArmedForces by #ElvisCostello & the Attractions.
This is the repressing by #MobileFidelity & I’m just done comparing it with a UK OG. There are audible differences between the two - the UK is punkier with more punch, but the #MoFi has better definition with hidden detail rising to the surface: the backing vocals & piano coming to the fore. But I’m not sure I prefer one over the other.
This came up from a recommendation the other day, and it's lowkey become one of my favorite new songs. Short and sweet! #NowListening

I’m new to this & have hunted down a series of first UK pressings, listening to them as they arrive.
I’d heard a version of Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, otherwise, I’m coming to this fresh.
It’s, obviously, very different to the first two albums, but the quality of songwriting is still there & - despite the acoustic feel - this is, still melodically engaging.
I’ll listen again tonight.

The package, for the price, is well done: booklet & 180g vinyl. The pressings bang on - flat, clean, dynamic.
